I find it repulsive when supporters of the government and APC try to play fast on our collective intelligence. I believe that it is patriotic to set the record straight with respect to Asset declaration.

Declaring of Asset With Code of Conduct Bureau
According to the law, EVERY category of public officer MUST declare their asset before CCB.
(1) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, every public officer shall within three months after the coming into force of this Code of Conduct or immediately after taking office and thereafter...
This every government official fulfilled.
The CCB Chairman in 2012 confirmed that exPresident Jonathan declared his
www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/jonathan-has-declared-assets-bureau-chairman/

This is EXACTLY what Buhari and Osinbajo did...

Note: that it isn't mandatory for assets to be declared in publicly, but mandatory to do so with code of conduct

["Public" Asset Declaration(PAD)
Unlike CCB declaration, PAD declaration is subject to the wish of the office holder. Musa Yaradua in year 2000 first declared his asset PUBLICLY as Governor of Katsina state. Details of his asset and liabilities was published. In June 2007, against the advice of CCB he went ahead to publish details of his assets and liabilities and those of his wife Turai yaradua. (nm.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=10124)
He never waited for CCB to publish it neither did Yaradua tell anyone to make demand for it by invoking the FOI law. CCB only does verification, they DON'T publish asset as declared.

For the record, even before the passing of the FOI, any citizen can petition CCB or get a warrant from the Court for the release of asset declaration form of a public officer. It doesn't translate to "public declaration"
[The "Not so Smart" Buhari:
While campaigning, Buhari made a pledge to Publicly Declare his asset...
“I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities, encourage all my appointees to publicity declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment."
Rather than public declaration, President Buhari did what every public officials have been doing by ONLY declaring with the CCB. To add salt to injury, Buhari through his Aide Alhaji Shehu Garba said Buhari has "fulfilled his promise". In his own words...
"By declaring their assets, the statement said that President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many campaign promises.".
He went further to say that Nigerians can "invoke the FOI" if they want details which is not different from the norm.

For the record, there is no law that set time limit for public declaration of asset, neither is there any law that illegalise public asset declaration.

Buhari Has No History of Public Asset Declaration, Yaradua Does
Buhari has served in various capacity as State Governor, NNPC boss, Petroleum Minister, PTF(special) boss and Head of State yet never has he declared his asset publicly. Buhari has no history of open asset declaration unlike yaradua.

As Governor, Yaradua never promised to declare PUBLICLY his asset in 2000, yet he did. He repeated same as President in 2007.

Finally, Buhari and his followers should understand that the image of the President will be affected if he continue to insist that "he has fulfilled his promise" by not doing what he promised to do

Even when there's a thread on Front Page to enlighten stone heads like you, you've stubbornly decided to be foolish. What sense does it make if President Buhari/Yemi Osinbanjo declare their assets to the public without due confirmation of their assertions from the CCB??

If President Buhari publicly declares his assets today, is it you who will confirm if his assertions are true or false?? What's the essence of declaring your assets in public to Nigerians without confirmation from the CCB when you can lie about anything??

You TANoids on this forum are finally confirming our fears that PDP as a party will constitute a very useless opposition.

Boy go to this thread and be wise --> https://www.nairaland.com/2348337/onyema-responds-buharis-critics-over

The wise thing to do is wait till the CCB is done with evaluation of the contents of their Asset Declaration Form, when this is approved and released and Buhari doesn't read it out in public, you can now continue your "opposition struggle" by opening numerous threads.

Your current rants are baseless boy. It's barely 48hours President Buhari/Yemi Osinbanjo declared their assets to the CCB.

This is rubbish. Whatever is declared before the CCB stays with the CCB. They don't Publish details. Whatever you declare public can be VERIFIED by members of the public. The CCB does not have any exclusive right to verification. Every citizen can and may petition CCT if they find anything wantin. It will also help to determine the sincerity of the "poor" Buhari.

Anything less than a PUBLIC declaration of his assets and liabilities amounts to a breach of trust. Though the constitution doesn't demand that the president declares publicly his assets, as far as it was a mantra of campaign, PMB should do so.

All the unnecessary noise about President Muhammadu Buhari's asset declaration is actually a ploy from the PDP goons to claim the right of chest beating by the time the President eventually declare his assets publicly as promised by PMB himself.

No one should take this people serious.

I hate the senseless opposition as practised by the APC unfortunately it has been accepted as the Norm and will hunt them!

Every sincere Nigerian with a conscience will agree with Barcanista!

This is a Simple matter

I promised to do A

I went Ahead to do B

A and B ain't thesame one is a vowel the other is a consonant!

There is No argument on this is simple and straightforward!

If Buhari says he will pay 25 million people 5000 monthly and decides to pay 500 to 25 million people there is a Breach!

He is President of Nigeria today not President of APC or PDP so let's help him by telling him the truth and refrain from calling a Black Kettle white!

May God Help us all

Stop embarrassing yourself boy. Even President Yaradua of Blessed Memory declared his assets publicly one month after being in office. It's barely three days Buhari assumed office and you and your jobless ilks are already opening threads with baseless rants.

You've refused to answer this simple question...What is now the use of the public asset declaration when Buhari's claims can't be duly verified?? To what end?? I suggest you apply wisdom and take a chill pill.

CCB DOES not release such to the public. Did you read where I said Yaradua never waited for CCB? Did you read where Shehu said "Buhari has fulfilled his pledge"? Or is your screen displaying a different text from mine?
