There are conflicting schools of thought about destiny. Some believe destiny can only be delayed and can never be denied. Others believe that we can shape our destiny; that's why you hear proverbs like 'your destiny is in your hands'.
I then tend to ask the question, if we can't change our destiny, why then do we need to put in all the effort when we can achieve what has been destined for us without suffering. Are some people actually destined to go to heaven?
Similarly, if we can change our destiny, why do we keep hearing that 'destiny can only be delayed but can never be denied'?

Destiny . . .

The concept of destiny isn't hard to grasp. You see, as humans, we are beings that can understand our environment. That can interact with it on a higher level, but, it seems too many times, we can get foolish. Destiny is the product of a selfish mind. A mind that cannot grasp how insignificant it is in the greater scheme of things. You think that something is predefined to happen to you. Or, you think that you can control whatever happens to you. They are all lies that humans create in order to feel important.

I put it to you now, there is a reaction to every action taken. Everything done has a consequence. However, the consequence does not always happen immediately. Or in the same place. You see, everything going on in your life, my life, is because of something else. Someone else's choice is what is affecting you right now. In fact. Things that do not think influence your life style.

I'm not sure you may be able to understand this. But, I will say it nonetheless. You see, this world is one very giant equation that strives to stay balanced against all odds. I mean this literally. This world is a giant, interactive equation. So, when something happens to A, it affects B and C and so on . . . a man who hit by a car. It is a product of both his choice and that of another. Because if he had chosen not to be there, he wouldn't have been hit.

On the matter of destiny. You are not the only on in this world. You cannot control other people's actions. But, it is these actions that affect you the most, things that you probably don't know or care about or can't do anything about. They are the things that affect you. I cannot even begin to explain the SHEER COMPLEXITY of it. Your age is the result of other people's choices. Your skin color is because of other people's choices. Hell, even your sex! Is a result of other people's . . . well, timing. Therefore, there is no such thing as destiny. Everything you do. Everything others do, constantly changes the future. Obviously, there can be coincidences. But all these are simply the result of nature trying to balance herself.

Whatever happens to you right now. Is the result of the resultant consequence of your actions, everyone else's actions, and inanimate action. Now, whatever you do about all of this, will affect someone you've never seen in your life. If you smoke, the soot can give someone else lung cancer. If you get drink and go out to the street, a motorist trying to avoid you can swerve into a pole and die. If you say you want to kill yourself, a suicidal person can hear you and finally gather enough courage to kill himself. AND YOU WILL NEVER KNOW!

Their families will blame destiny. As you do in your life. But that is not the case. Life is simply . . . a massively multiplayer roleplaying game. As William shakespare would say:
All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts . . .

Which is why, we have rules and morals because deep inside us, we know that there is no preset future. We know, that we cannot dictate life. Because we know that life is shaped by every thought. Every action, every decision that we make. So, at the end of the day, it boils down to choice. Choice is everything. Choice is what dictates the future. But not your choice only. But the choice of seven billion homo sapien like you. So, I urge you, try to make, the right choices. You can never know how it will affect someone else. You can decide. Not to give a Bleep. You can decide not to care. It's your choice. You van do whatever you want. But, you can not control whatever happens next.

in case you couldn't read all that, or maybe you did, this is a summary.

1. Destiny is a construct of the human imagination.
2. It is therefore not real.
3. Life is an interactive game.
4. Whatever happens to you is a result of someone else's actions.
5. Whatever you do about it affects other people.
6. In short, relax. The future isn't set in diamond grin
