‎All Progressives Congress’ lawmakers-elect will sign an undertaking pledging to abide by the party’s choice of candidates for the leadership of the 8th national assembly, TheCable has been told. According to source in the APC hierarchy, the party would conduct an internal election for its lawmakers on Saturday. “The aim of the election is to present sole candidates for the positio‎n of senate president and speaker of the house of representatives,” he said. “The party is trying to avoid a situation in which its lawmakers will be divided next Tuesday when the national assembly election will take place. “The party does not want the lawmakers to undermine its supremacy. What we want do is to avoid crisis. We know there will be hiccups, but we will get through them.” The APC leadership is currently meeting with its house of representatives member‎s-elect at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja. The meeting is replete with occasional shouts of “no, no”‎. A sole candidate for speaker of the house  is expected to emerge after the meeting‎. ‎TheCable had reported on Friday that the APC was facing internal crisis owing to “irreconcilable differences”  regarding the leadership of the 8th assembly.

It won't work

PDP and David Mark are waiting in the wings for a slip up by APC, but I'm sure that in time, the party will reconcile all interest and unite behind a single candidate.

...and for years PDP have been selecting/electing leaders of the National Assembly without any problems whatsoever, APC is just an assemblage of greedy men with self serving interests, Thank goodness most of the black sheeps and bad eggs are now 'progressives'.

How United State Speaker is Selected
