Dear Mr President

Watching your quite embarrassing faux pass, where you refereed to Germany as West Germany, it became clear to me that you need a quick tutorial on changes that have occurred in the modern world.

Countries that have changed names: Quite a few countries have changed their names Sir. I know such information may not have made it's way to you on the ranch in Daura so here's a quick update.

Abyssinia, an ancient African kingdom, became Ethiopia.
Burma, a country in Asia, was renamed Myanmar in 1989 by the military government.
Ceylon became a republic in 1972 and changed its name to Sri Lanka, which means “splendid thing.”
Mesopotamia, the fertile plain between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, is now Iraq (as well as smaller parts of Syria, Turkey, and Iran).
The kingdom of Persia is now Iran.
Prussia no longer exists. After World War II, it was divided among Poland, Germany, and the USSR(Please Sir do no go referring to Merkel as President of Prussia, that would make Putin quite angry!!)
Rhodesia in Africa was named after Cecil Rhodes, an Englishman who encouraged European whites to settle in Africa. Today, Southern Rhodesia is Zimbabwe; Northern Rhodesia is Zambia.(So when your go to visit Zim, please do not refer to it as Rhodesia, as that would make Mugabe quite cross!!)
Siam is now Thailand.
Tanganyika and Zanzibar, in Africa, united to become one country, Tanzania.(So nobody is president of Zanzibar)
Zaire, the name of one of the largest countries in Africa, was changed in 1997 to the Democratic Republic of Congo(As opposed to peoples Republic of the Congo, they are 2 different countries O, Mr Presido, please don't mix them up, na small thing dey cause fight for that area)
Upper Volta is now Burkina Fasso
The Soviet Union does not exist anymore(Only in Putin's dreams)
And lastly......
East and West Germany reunited in 1990 to become once more Germany!!!

I hope this brief tutorial will help to bring you up to speed with current names of of some countries that have changed over the years. This should prevent you making anymore embarrassing gaffes, which have the potential to cause serious diplomatic incidents
