I'm sure Prince84 is talkin abt DS-157,which is for male applicants only.Prince,pls lets knw if i'm rite.
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by prince84(m): 11:21am On Jun 29, 2009
@toyosiwemi
I meant SEVIS receipt, its was a typo error
The Application documents are three in number for male applicants DS 156,158 and 157(Male Applicants only)
As for the Original Birth Certificate from NPC, You will Need it if you want to take up a Part time Job while schooling or Go for OPT(for Engineering students) after graduation.

@Rachiwise
Your right was talking about DS-157,About The GRE its not a requirement for my programme and yes its a Masters Programme,The University only requested for TOEFEL, which i have already given them.
As regards the ABJ Hotels, Do you recommend anyone of the ones you posted above, and please bear in Mind, we are in a recession grin grin So I will need low budget but convenient one.Thanks, Best of Luck to your brother

You don't need your birth certificate for OPT. Where on earth did you get that from. OPT is for all International students and not Engineering students alone

@house, u guys are simply wonderful, keep up the gud work. Pls, i'd like to know if i can refill my DS 156 and 158 forms coz I detected some errors and I'd like to change the name of my sponsor, this is happening 3 weeks after filling the forms. What do u guys think of this, cld they have a copy already bf d interview, esp for d DS156 with barcode.
I'd also like to know if it is the liquid cash or turn-over in account that is important. My sponsor has messed me up even before the interview claimed he used his funds for urgent biz, so maybe I'd look elsewhere or add another sponsor. Pls what amount is considered adequate if my total fees is $72,00.
Please I'd like to know what a single never married lady with no landed properties, few relatives around cld use to convince them that she is gonna come back. All i've got is a stable job with moderate pay and shares in a few banks that was tangible then but amount to little now. This is my case please help me review it critically, thanks.

I'm no expert in US visas.as a matter of fact most of d info i share here,i get from d internet.so,as for d Form 156,i dont think anything stops u from refillin again and again,as long as u always have new barcodes.from what i learnt,filling form online doesnt mean that u have submitted it to them at the embassy.All d best!

well said rashy,
@asil
i almost fell into this problem too with sponsor's addy cos i wanted to use the addy my sponsor had on his bank account statement. I havent filled in those forms cos i want to be doubly sure about what i put there, address you will be staying and sorts. but me thinks you can fill them a number of times cos i actually dummy-filled one to have a copy of what it looks like and it went tru. so the forms are actually a template for printing and submission at the embassy.
as per what amount is adequate, i think no amount is too much, provided its much more than what is required (including cost of living).
then lastly, the question of proving you will return after your studies has been asked endlessly without much concrete responses. I asked around and was told to just present the documents you are asked for and hope (pray) all they'll ask is " will you be returning after your studies" to which i think a simple yes  should do.

@femilangy
as we discussed, keep checking for available dates and pray someone does cancell his/her appointment. try and link up with this femo2000 guy. i think you guys are in same shoes+he may have found out a way of his.
as soon as you find a date, pay the uba fees and book at once.

@ponytail
if you have access to the tax clearance stuff, then no doubt take it. if you dont, pray you wouldnt be asked for it,  wink

@prince84
u myt wat to check out the satellite towns(nyanya, lugbe, kubwa) for hotels, pretty cheap out there though generators myt run 8pm-6am,  cheesy wink cheesy

@ Asil
i think your sponsor is already stated in your I-20,also its advisable to get additional funds if necessary,just work as your spirit leads you,I don't think the Consular officer's have laid down questions they ask,I think they ask questions based on documentation/Individuals, in any case good luck to you.

@Prince84,
Oh, boy! That 10million naira on bank account is too much oooo. This is what I have been doing all my life before I traveled out. And it really worked for me. I have 8 people with GRE, 3 with GMAT and 23 with SAT.
The maximum amount on your statement should not more than 7.5million. I strongly advised Visa student Visa applicants. All these people have helped out in the past never had more than that and were all successful.
This is a good advise to all applicants make sure you do any of these standardize tests-GRE, GMAT and SAT, if you passed really well, you don’t need TOEFL. It's just the most aumatically way of getting Visa and don't choose schools below $5,000, the consular might think you just want to exploit the means to travel out. Then, make sure you secured full scholarship sometimes, especially if your Passport is still virgin.

@Prince84 and A-Town,
You are both right, OPT is for international students studying in US schools. It's mostly used by Engineering but applies to all other major too. Because on your student Visa, it will be stipulated on it that you are not authorize to work and during the summer time when students have 3-months holiday, you will be required to have your OPT before any company will allowed you to work. Even, if you have your Social Security Card, it would be written on it too, that you are not authorize to work.

America is a little bit strict now since September / 11 destructions. International students, it's either you get married or company files for you to get H1B for job. And H1B is like a lottery now, even after the company paid like $6,000 on you and still don't get it. Therefore, most companies would tell you they don't file or would transfer you out of US and you don't want that since you have not gotten your papers to stay in USA.

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by okokomeji: 6:25pm On Jun 30, 2009
@Prince84

Before I left out of country, I bought a clean sedan car with school runs’ money. I have helped 23 of my friends’ secured admissions overseas and they were all on scholarships. I used to stay in Miran, Lagos. I got 13 USA admissions and Visas, 4 UK admission and visa, 3 Germany’s school admissions and visas, 2 Helsinki, Finland, and one Sweden’s school admission and visa.
Really, I prefer USA admission most, because 11 out of 13 didn’t even have valid WAEC results and usa will definitely package you a full scholarship for 4 years, I printed everything on computer for them; since USA WILL NEVER VERIFY YOUR DOCUMENTS UNDER TWO MINUTES OF SCHEDULED INTERVIEW. I just made sure you had nice SAT score that could get you scholarship, once that is done, you paid for service fees, you are one foot in naija and another in USA. Then, I billed you for documents; e.g certificate of incorporation, says your father has company, bank statement, and some other unnecessary documents.

I have a Visa tips numbered 1 to 50, I called it “a wi ma ye wun,” meaning never failed. Any questions that consulates will ask you under two minutes of interview are inside it. Then, I tell my clients, if you see this skinny white lady with spots on her face, just memorize this & that numbers from the tips, that’s what she’s going to ask you or you see this black American guy with afro, he’s going to ask you this. It all worked for me after more than three years critical studying of foreign schools and embassies. I also interview more than 30 people who have gone to their various embassies; I would ask what questions they asked, documents they asked and interview total time.

UK school will verify your WACE because they have direct access to Ogba or Abuja. I don’t think they verify statement then. I mostly applied for them through UCAST.
In Germany, I only have two schools, once you passed the SAT is done deal, Intl University of Bremen now called Jacobs University and another American University in Germany, I only helped three students; because Germany has the longest Visa processing period, more than a month and they would verify all your documents. The mostly discouraging part is once you secured admission Visa is guaranteed but you may either deposit 6000 euros or have guarantor for (health insurance), which is not good for the less privileged.

For Sweden and Finland, schooling is free but you got to provide proof of health insurance. They both only have their embassies in Abuja, most time is herculean to go through all that.

I got my visa early June and my school resumed early August, I travelled late September. Before I travelled, I wrote to my school to give me 2 weeks extension, they never responded, I just said mess it. I was scared a little bit, because most people said they won’t let me in at the port of entry, when I got to Paris, they scrutinized my passport so much, I was scared over there too. I got to final destination, they just shaked my hand and said be a good student! I got to school admission process had ended. My assigned advisor, now taking to each of my intructors’ offices to put my name on their students’ list. At the end of the day, I still got my 4.0 to tell you America education curriculum is so easy.

When you applied to school in USA, UK and Germany; they ask you for bank statement, you carry “Oluwole” give them or better still if your family is rich give Original. After you paid admission and registration fees, they would issue you an I-20. If you were denied or want to defer, and want to re-apply at the embassy for Visa. You need to contact your school again. The school will ask for the issued I-20, you send it back to them and they will re-issue your I-20 and put expected date of graduation on it. In case of UK’s school is the same, just contact your director of admission, he or she would ask you to send the issued I-20 back and re-issue new one that will carry your expected date of graduation. That is just it! Consulates know you could get your visa today and get sick tomorrow. So that means life has finished for you? Definitely, no!

Anyway I quited applying at abuja, Suprisingly on Monday,I got a response from Lagos giving me an epidited interview scheduled for 8th july. So I am comforted at the moment but it means I will have to jet out of Nija immediately I get my Visa by Gods Grace.

@Prince84
The last balance on my sponsors account (printed about 2 weeks ago) reads 14M Naira. What do you think?

@ House
The advise I got from a reputable lawyer is that to proof relationship with a sponsor (in my case an Uncle), The sponsor will have to write a personal letter addressed to the consular General, stating the relationship that exsist btw both paties, willingness and availability of fund. Also a sworn affidavit can also be used to corroborate and attest to such facts (though may not be asked, but in case!!! cheesy wink)

Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by okokomeji: 7:28pm On Jun 30, 2009
@femo2000,

Don't use sponsored person, the best way to get a visa in American embassy is to use your father or your mother's name. America is no man's land, nobody besides your true blood, I mean DADDY, MUM OR BLOOLD SIBLINGS WILL PUT HIS OR HER STATEMENT DOWN FOR YOU. If you use sponsored person you are just prolonging the interview process and at the end of the day you won't get it. If your family is rich, you might also have traveled out of country before and your passport is no longer virgin, you can do what ever pleases you or comes to your mind; but If your family is poor, go to banks and talk with any "Soji"staff if he or she can print it for you. But bankers' mouth so wide, would tell you to drop 40k which is too much and will not be on ther record too. Why not find anyone that knows much about "Oluwole" to print it out for just 5K.
Then, don't go more than 7.5m, the consulars are not stupid. They know people don't keep huge funds in their personal accounts, it's always in company's account.
This life has really changed, I am not trying to corrupt you, but it's what it is. They don't want poor man's children to achieve anything either in Politics or education. Just imagine after you blast the GRE, the schools in USA will also ask you to send Bank statements. Let say your Mom sweeps floor and your Daddy is gateman and both never had personal accounts in their life. And if you don't know how to get statement, then you Let the dreams to travel out for better opportunity be shattered.

I may give you these little tips too and I bet you three out of five of them are coming out.

Your sponsor will only send you his or her statement and back it up with written letter for you to talk to embassy. When you get to embassy through Bank account, they will PULL-UP your sponsor information. I think back in year 2000, everybody used to send documents to consular general, but not anymore and due to technological advancement, everything is on internet for verification; but these deal with documents from USA. But the thing about Nigeria is that we don't have strong database. So everything from Nigeria is not verified and but things are changing now because Nigeria too will soon put everything on e-document.
Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by okokomeji: 8:03pm On Jun 30, 2009
@james2man,
Yes ooo bro! What ever I say about schools in abroad is confirmed, because I went through it. I didn't put signboard outside when I was doing it, but I had more information and results better than majority of the big places you know in Nigeria now. I am talking about MET, Glendora, this light-skinned man in Obalende and others.

You are even lucky, I know someone who never even knew his faith as of July 28 and his school resumes August 7, he got his I-20 on August 2 and paid for SEVIS on same day, it's easier then, you could get any little boys to pay for you online. And you must to get your I-20 before you pay for the SEVIS, because it has this numbers on the I-20 THAT will be required to fill in during application. He didn't make appointment, he went to embassy on August 6 and had two weeks extension latter after getting his Visa.

@house, thanks to u guys for replying my mail, I really appreciate ur contributions. I would like to know if it is such a negative point to have pple in U.S, my brother is a citizen by marrige and my mum( a widow) is there too, she just got her green card.
As per the sponsor's bank statement is it the turnover or liquid cash that is important.
I'm in the medical field going for my MPH, any gist of bias towards this field? My interview is in 2wks, I will surely let u guys know abt it's outcome(positive by God's grace).
I would like guys to know and believe that it is possible with God. Isaiah43:19. Had a friend that got his visa last year without his bank statement being checked out, he was not even asked abt a lot of documents we bother urselves with, In as much as we try our best let us put God first. It is well with us all, cheers.

@Asil,
Being a medical doctor in USA, you will never lack in your life again. If you really good at doing what you doing. Before five years I promise you will be paid six-figured annual salary.

The reason why people don't want to use relatives or family other than parents is manifold. I mean a lot of things attached to it. First of all, if you use your brother, it might be that he came on Student Visa and never leave upon graduation, they won't harass him, but that will play against him, but might succeed filing for anything other than his fiancé. Two, if he has committed any misdemeanor crime e.g. punched a girl, over speeding, fighting, owning IRS tax money, credit card debt and all that. They won't arrest you on the street and this is where they would wait for him.
If your brother earning is just enough for him and his family, this will play against you too.

As for your mother, if you are under 21 years of age, it will be easier to file for you, if not you are adult and your destiny is on your hands. If you come from rich family and you have traveled many times including to USA, I don't think you should have problems.

Put God first, but mind you that bible says "Heaven helps those who help themselves." Let me give you reasons why consular don't check bank statement sometimes; first if you have enviable credentials or time is not on his or her side. My friend wanted to go to embassy, he had 2-1 and 1480 in GRE and everybody that promised him bank statement failed and he waited second year and the school still promised to send I-20, then he got statement for 3K through a friend and he was looking just at savings and withdrawers' dates from the statement. But a day remaining to go to embassy around evening, he found out that his bank statement was post-date instead of back-date before interviewed date. He felt reluctant to go to embassy and he started yelling that someone is behind his predicament. I told him to go that it's just a make or break decision. He went to embassy and the lady's consular looked at the statements thoroughly and never set eyes on that flaws. She returns the statements back and asked how many schools you applied to and named them, you need to know on the schools on test score and addresses. He said everything perfectly and she threw a little paper for him to come back for his Visa third day. God dey plus make u find information too.

Again, follow the visa tips we put on this forum, shall all on this forum have every reason to rejoice and celebrate all-round success with at the end of the day.

@okokomeji, thanks for d reply, my brother is doing fine there, he didn't go there with student visa.
I acutally got 4 admissions and presently with two I-20 forms, one from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health but I have decided not to follow up with this coz of the cost and duration. Infact their resumption shd have passed by the time I go for interview. Will the embassy have information that I have received d 1-20 form from this school? What excuse will I give for leaving the best, no 1, school for just an equally good school, no 17, same school my brother had his master, do u think it makes sense to link his influence to this choice in addition to other academic reputations of the school.

If they ask you this many questions, there's a high probability you won't get the visa. In most cases, 1,2, or 3 questions are needed. If there is no suspicion, they may not even ask questions. The interviewer is just an average american selected to weed out potential migrants.

The Interview was brief , way shorter than i expected, the Interviewing Officer after going through my I-20 and Sevis fee reciept just asked me about my job experience and its relation to my field and if i plan to return and that was that.
No Bank Statements or any other documents were required.
I want to thank everone especially Rachiwise, Gongo Aso, Prince84, wanville and UcheM.
And i wish you guys all the best . Remember be confident and let your replies be curt.
