Buhari's Response To Dele Momodu: My Thoughts... by MizMyColi(f): 11:19am On Jul 16, 2015
I did not read the comments on that thread aside the OP's, because I didn't want others' train of thoughts to influence mine.

This is my take....

The writer obviously seeks to paint Mr President in good light which has worked, so far, so good.
Because to be honest, I liked the fact that he looked forward to criticisms and while acknowledging the virility of the social media, does not seem bothered by the seemingly endless tirades against him.

From the original post (assuming Dele Momodu spoke truthfully) I cannot help but see Buhari as a man who means well for this country, even though past antecedents do not tally.

I will however point out that this government seems directionless. How do you intend to govern a nation without having a blue print of sorts, a game plan, one that should be communicated to the people, to boost confidence and goodwill all round.
I do not advise Mr President to seek the option of the media as the chief means to propagate goodwill among the people he leads.
Let his actions speak! Let it speak! and leave people to be the judge.

On this note, I will like to talk about the issue of power supply, I was told yesterday, while having a group discussion, on my way back from work, that the president threatened to revoke the license of Power distribution companies, should they not live up to par. I could have as well called that propaganda, but my mind wouldn't let me....
If he truly did that, then tbh I commend him for that.

Except when the issue of ratings came up yesterday, I had earlier soft-pedalled on criticizing and urging Oga Bubu to start work using the militant approach, I figured that these folks have never been in the corridors of federal power, and that it might take up to two years for them to achieve stability and settle down to really governing this nation, but claiming a bogus huff puff 70% on performance so far, so good, felt like an insult to my collective sensibilities.

Like I've always posited, propaganda or not, hypocrisy, lies, double facedness, and worth nots or not...The sane and patriotic citizens of this country, despite our political leanings, all want the same thing....
A Nigeria That Works.
Whether you speak as the opposition or proposition, the onus lies on us to do whatever we can to achieve that, as long as such actions are guided by sincerity of purpose.

Let me face the power that you raised:
1.NEPA no longer exist,it is now broken into seven units
2.power generation has been decentralized successfully
3.power distribution and supply has also been decentralized successfully
4.electrical tarrif and end consumer also

B,ISSUES
1.vandalistion

Don't really know about the said response to Dele... However, I see Buhari as a stand up comedian. No wonder Basket Mouth seems to take a liking to him because he's been doing jokes in Aso Rock since May 29..

Reading...

***Modified***

I couldn't help but laugh when I read Momodu's point of view on allowing more women in politics because their needs are not as big as that of men and hence that would reduce the level of corruption in government.

Quite an interesting theory although purely based on circular reasoning. I also advocate for women in politics but that should be solely based on merits and void of any sorta nepotism or favouritism.

Back to the matter, I don't think any past or present government has really provided a blue print per say for our Nation. I wouldn't consider the long term and short term agendas as such. These are temporary programs geared at getting us to where we should have been as a Nation.

The people of Nigeria would be ready for a blueprint when they learn to understand or rather get enlightened on the fact that there is a huge difference between a STATE and a NATION. Nigeria is a STATE made up several Nations.

Nation ~ A large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language, inhabiting in a particular STATE or Territory.
(As defined by Oxford Dictionary)

It is therefore safe to say that certain tribes would automatically fit in this definition, which includes the Yoruba Nation, Hausa Nation and the Igbo Nation.

If as a people we still nurture the thought of going our separate ways then no government would be able to provide any sort of blue print for the Nation. We must all realise that as a people we would continually get the kind and type of leaders we deserve. Nigeria would only be built by Nigerians.

I stumbled on a quote recently can't really remember who said it, but goes thus, paraphrased;

"If people feel they have to engage in bloodshed before they can achieve unity then they have no business being together".

I am looking forward to the day we would fully embrace our diversity and have an Ethos similar to the American dream.

God Bless The Federal Republic Of Nigeria.

I'm with you on this, however, I commended him for the threat he issued, which obviously has seen them fall into line.
It is one thing to have all the equipment and capital going for you as an employer of labour, and another thing to have a willing and motivated staff who will combine the resources at their disposal to produce efficient and effective output.
You catch my drift?

Re: Buhari's Response To Dele Momodu: My Thoughts... by kaboninc(m): 12:04pm On Jul 16, 2015
Firstly, on the advantages of revoking a license which was duly and transparently issued, fine Mr. Buhari can decide to revoke these licenses just because they are not performing as expected but we should understand that there are rules, guidelines and procedures and consequences to follow before revoking licenses in a highly competitive and critical sector as the Power Sector; else they'll end up killing the confidence in the market and that erodes interest and the people will suffer for it. We'd be back to square half!

Why most people are aghast with this APC government especially someone like Mr. Buhari who has shown strong interests in becoming the President is because they appear not to know what they are in for. It is not about acquiring power but knowing what to do with it. In a sane country, you ought to have started work...things like hinting the policy direction in various sectors of the economy. That's very important but what we have is just a standstill. Another was the promise of hitting the ground running. We are still on the ground. About to run but not running!

Is it not shameful that these APC fellows are claiming the gains - such as improved power supply across the country - of the previous administration as theirs? An administration of less than two months? As they made us to believe, supposing Mr. Jonathan left a comatose economy, why are the people not tensed? This government said there was virtually an empty treasury (by Mr. Buhari himself) but salaries are being paid at the Federal Levels and by some prudent resourceful States to their employees, Universities are still on, Hospitals and other Government institutions are still up and running. So why the unnecessary hype?

They should get working because they sure do have a lot to do, chiefly is removing the saw dust from their eyes.

Yes the President may mean well for us...at least in his heart...but the utterances from him most especially is conflicting, confusing and saddening. Come to think of it,

Did we hear or read or notice or observe Jonathan making scatting remarks about his predecessors or their actions, most especially the scam in Obasanjo's administration? The Halliburton Scandal? Even with the power sector collapse, the economic meltdown (God gave him wisdom there), the poor roads, the universities, the rice dumping (thank God for people like Adesina, the terrible security situation in the North East and rampart spate of kidnapping (yet we hosted the World Economic Forum and attracted huge FDI) and many others?

That is a leader who got the ground running!

Mr. Dele Momodu is just courting the King. He wants to tell his royal majesty that he is still in town and played a role in making Mr. Buhari, the King. He is just a court jester!

What I'm trying hard to fathom is,how and why are you guys willing to tolerate another 4yrs of Jonathan mal adminstration of 6yrs,yet same set of you bluntly refuse to give Buhari atleast 1yr benefit of doubt.

You guys also want him to right all the wrongs of past adminstrations? In 3 months?

Isnt this hypocrisy?
