Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district In State of Kogi and Chairman, Senate Adhoc Committee on information, media and publicity, Senator Dino Melaye has publicly revealed his salary as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In an interview on the program One-On-One on NTA International Wednesday, Melaye said his pay last month was 1.4M (about 60,000 dollars).
The salary of members of the National Assembly has been shrouded in secrecy with some only given an estimate while majority dodge the question. This the first time a senator will give a definite value. Melaye also said that the new senate will open the senate to the public to know about their finances as a committee is already working on the report.
Nigerians have been calling for a reduction of members of the national assembly with report that senators collected as much as 15M naira per month and 13M for House of Reps member. The senate has an annual budget of 150bn naira.
However, Dino Melaye did not reveal whether the 1.4M naira include allowances. While still speaking, he also revealed that his wardrobe aloowance3 is 42,000 Naira per month.

I hope Dino Malaye has not forgotten that he is a Senator and not a Honorable. Hope the N1.4 million isn't for House of Representative because the last time I checked, he called Sarakill a Speaker
