They do, if you present yourself well... and they will come back for more if your service is satisfactory. I have clients from different countries coz of my discipline... Even in a work that requires "native speakers only", I still get picked. It's so real and such a gold mine will only respond to those who have faith and are ready to take actions.
What skills do u recommend I acquire in older to be on top of d food chain n get picked for better paying jobs? Iveawnt u a PM, I'd really like to speak to u off-this-forum, I anxiously await your reply.

Why do I have this feeling that most people on this thread are not willing to take action? Instead, they are trying to prove others wrong.

You guys should change your mindset. Abi na motivation writer una dey wait for to write epistles before una begin take action?

If Mr. A is making money online, what makes you think you can't if you learn how Mr. A is doing it?

I started working on upwork last august and I've earned close to $700, just from a single contract which is still on-going.

check my profile

Freelancer name : Ayodeji Aje.

U need tips on how to bid.

I've personally discovered tips on how to get interviews from clients, how to bid for the right jobs, choose verified clients and many more which I will share freely on popular demand.

Its real. Upwork.com is the best.

as for freelancer.com, I discovered that there are lot of scammers there who will ask for security holds for them to start your contract, even tho many are making it there too. I recommend upwork

$700 in three weeks is not bad ooo..more than my monthly salary.

Cheers.

Sir, if the load is much, I can help you out with the work for a little fee. Sending you a PM

Hello Victor,
You know what? Most people in Nigeria will always doubt no matter what you tell them. Don't blame them because of the mess we got ourselves into. The Mess of scam,419 and mistrust. Have earned from odesk now upwork (elance is joining them this september). Am a part-time freelancer.
Thanks for sharing this info to us.
FYI dear Nairalanders-- u can make so much from your home.
Regards.

Trust me, I understand. I really do

why are you bothering yourself with whom should take action? Leave them!

I have been browsing the webmaster and programming section. I have a faint idea of how to build sites like konga now.

I also have now understood Joomla set up.

I will be going full forces next week when I travel to Lagos.

I will also start website design business on the side while usinga method I learned on WF years ago.

1-2 clients per week netting 50k-60k per week isn't bad idea is it? I pray and hope on God to open doors for me.

Been on fiverr since July, made less than 50 usd, i'll move to upwork now.. I have experience in web and app development. I can manually code, but I'll combine with frameworks for faster delivery.

I'm starting tonight! So help me God.

MrLouisVanGaal:
Some of us have to be truthful. If you want to come on a site to show ppl you make money from freelancing atleast come fully prepared. Just talking and talking when you know Africans don't like to read see doesn't do it. Just let them see a proof since that is the only thing that works on the mind of skeptic Africans waiting to brand the other man making online genuinely a scammer

Screenshots from one of my old accounts on fiverr. Sure you wont be waiting for one i currently run. I hope i haven't derailed

@MrLouisVanGaal In Summary, What you've done is that every freelancer will want to be pasting their earnings here, which is totally unnecessary. I created this thread to simply help others. "simple"! you don't have to prove anything. Why? because you are not selling or marketing any thing.

You might want to create your own thread for pasting earnings ( did you hear how that sounds?) It smacks showing-off. So, Lets help others. Period!

You are welcome to empower others here, that's the only reason why people click the topic to read the thread; to be enlightened.

Shalom!

You invented the cyberspace or something? You are still very possesive at page 7? I wont say that trash to anyone at my frontpage, page 1. Imagine if the owners of the sites you talk about thinks like you do, what will it look like for those seeking legit income?

The starting point is: what skill do these guys have? If you have no skill you will be earning peanuts!

But if you have real skills, employers will come with thousands of dollars begging you to do their work. I made $50,000 from a Latvian company on Elance in 2013 alone. That company alone paid my rent that year and a jeep I bought.

You have to be on top of the food chain. All this talk about profile building without skills is a waste of time.

I even give 10k, 20k jobs to students because I am too busy now and work with few high paying companies now. There is even a php developer I know based in Lagos who has done more than 700 jobs on freelancer. When u reach that stage jobs will be chasing you, not you chasing $2 per 500 words peanut butter change.

You are right. I even gave a job to the guy you mentioned. He is so good.

I have not even shown you my account snapshot from all my freelance accounts. If I open my Payoneer transaction PDF document from the last 6 years, people will faint here. That is why when Elance was coming to Nigeria for a seminar in Lagos four years ago, I was given a specal invitation to come for that event.

Those who think I will sell an ebook on this are joking. It will not happen. All I will advice you is this: forget about opening any freelance accounts. First things first. Go and acquire a skill and move up the freelance food chain.
what kind of skills are we talking about here? And what food chain please?

To acquire some relevant skills, visit www.udacity.com co-founded by:

Sebastian Thrun (born May 14, 1967) is an educator, programmer, robotics developer and computer scientist from Germany. He is CEO and cofounder of Udacity, an institution he cofounded with David Stavens and Mike Sokolsky. He was a Google VP and Fellow, and a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University.

source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastian_Thrun

Don't let money be the ultimate motivating factor before you decide to acquire relevant skills especially if and/or when you hear (listen to) tales by moonlight.

I posted about Elance and Odesk some years back on this site in 2013 ( https://www.nairaland.com/1378158/global-freelance-jobs ) without mentioning mouth-watering sums. Until you mention huge figures people generally would not listen to you or take you serious.

Once again people interested in acquiring some tech skills should simply visit www.udacity.com

Good Morning Guys

JUST SO WE DON'T DERAIL THIS BEAUTIFUL THREAD I OPENED TO GIVE THE BEST I CAN

This morning I will dwell on: My Strory: A Freelancer's Journey.

Yes you have the basics (laptop, modem), Yes you have the skills, Yes you are hardworking, but there is more to all these relevant attribute to becoming a successful freelancer,

MY STORY: It all started here, I mean here on nairaland, I have seen the thread before several times "How to make $1000/monthly from researching' Hmmm, I subconsciously assert that is one of those nairaland again looking to open a thread for popularity, or perhaps another way to lure unsuspecting nairalander to buy some product/service. Day in day out, I read the topic on the job section and am like mtchewwww, "no be me and una" I never clicked to check its content, Then just one day, one faithful day I just decided to click this topic screaming loud every time on my laptop screen, hmm " make I even check wetin dem dey do here" gbam, I got glued " Making to make $1000 in a month" singing sweet melody in my head. Yes, is Ladywriter's thread, very informative, but before now, Nigerian Lady in London had already posted a data entry/product description job in the jobs/vacancies section, its a freelance job, because am quite new to it, I applied and later got to find out that she works from Elance.com immediately I typed elance.com and did my own little research, subsequently, register a profile and started work. As at today I haven't gotten any reply from this lady, She asked us to add here ID on Skype up till today no add back. She went blank.

I did my research, yes of course with help from Ladywriter's thread, I observed her thread was mostly about Freelancer, which was cool, but I know straight away, Nigerians must have flooded this site, let me focus on Elance.com now Upwork.com. Yes, it paid off.I get better jobs in Elance.com compared to freelancer.com

MORAL OF THE STORY: I did my home work with finding out, not just settling with what I see. I know there is more and there will always be more. I know we have many gurus out there making millions. My question is, What is the essence of those million without impacting on others. Hey, am not a millionaire, but Am worth more than a billionaire.

Shalom!
Hello bro, please can one work on the site from Android phone? Must it be laptop?
Thanks
