The Truth About Speaking In Tongues And Holy Ghost Baptism... by Nobody: 6:38pm On Sep 27, 2015
Sequel to the write up of pastorosadame on (Holy Ghost baptism) I had to come up hear, to make some clarifications and make it known to this house of God, so we not be dissuaded from faith by some not so true doctrines.... the peculiar thing about Christianity is the ability for we all to take the bible home, study it at our quite time, grasp and understand it with the help of the holyspirit while breaking away from stereotype, prototypes or perceived norms and dogmas... The write up of Pastorosadame, on Holy Ghost baptism and speaking in tongues is not totally right,(his write up on the means of getting it, are right, but the substance and use of it flawed)... their are so many misconceptions i'll want to set aright (of course using the bible as my succour)...

The evidence of Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in tongues; true, but that is just 1 of the evidence out of the many abound, others include the various gifts of God, Viz a Viz : prophecy, discernment, visions, healing e.t.c

In the book of acts 2:4 - after all men waited and the spirit of God fell upon the ; All men spake in tongues (of other languages) people from over 12 different tribes heard them speaking in their languages and were baffled as to how they learnt such.... How many "in tongues" that are spoken by nowa days Christians do they speak in other languages?
(More of what we hear are Vain Repititions and blabbing; and this was exactly what Jesus Christ warned against when he taught us how to Pray (avoiding blabbing and vain repitations like pegans) Math 6:7 )

When you read down to acts 2 :17 when men that heard them(disciples) thought they were drunk, peter Told them, it is Joel's prophecy ' in the last days I'll pour my spirit upon all flesh, sons shall prophesy, young men shall see visions...

In the book of 1 corr. 14 ; when Paul was advising the church of Corinth on conduct in church...vs 1,5 Paul stressed on the need to prophesy, rather than speaking in tongues (for it only edifies ones self, and not the church) Vs 19 : I'll rather speak 5 words with understanding, than 10,000 words in unknown tongues...
Paul further adviced that when speaking in tongues, it should be done in your closet, but if u MUST speak in church; let it be by 2 or 3. And their must be people to interprete , if there are non to interprete then U Must Keep SILENT(Vs 27,28) ... he (paul) rather encouraged free flow of prophesy in church

This instructions are contrary to what our churches practice today? The issue of in tongues has so been bastardized, and everyone compelled to speak Vain words with repitations and claim it's in tongues against the doctrines snd stipulates of the bible.... forgetting that the spirit of "tongues" is a gift that not everybody must have, some might have other gifts as mentioned above, and it shouldn't be vain words, they should be words that can be interpreted by someone blessed with the gift of interpreting....

Please, We should all read our bible, understand it, and digest it... Most of the practices we see in our churches today are anti christ teachings... we seem to be swiftly deviating from christian norms, and no one is saying anything, it really bleeds my heart.

Thank you

You opinion seems to confuse between being filled with the Holy Ghost and manifesting the GIFTS. You need to receive the Holy Ghost 1st with an evidence of speaking in tongues before manifesting ANY of those gifts you mentioned. Kindly be guided.

Thanks for the mention. To make it clear, there is nowhere in my epistle where I talked about the use of spiritual gifts. Where did you see a flawed explanation of the use of spiritual gifts in my write-up? Please go back and read it again. I don't relish hollow nonexistent observations.

As for the speaking in tongues that seems to be making some folks restive, I didn't elaborate on it either. The heading was clear, and that was what I wrote on.

If you want to spark up an argument where there should be none, please look elsewhere.

Jesus is LORD!

In addition to my earlier reply, I'd like to point out that you are addressing too many issues at the same time in your write-up. You make it difficult for someone to grasp what exactly you want to pass across. What exactly do you want to talk about?

my argument, the manifestation of holy ghost is not just by speaking in tongues, when u baptised with the holy ghost, u acquire a gift, that is peculiar... and not everybody should speak in tongues, it should only be reserved for those that have the gifts of speaking intongues... so u can be baptised by the holy ghost, and begin to prophesy...

In my initial epistle, I clearly cited the gifts of healing and prophecy as some of the gifts you could benefit from HOLY GHOST Baptism. Furthermore, I categorically stated that speaking in tongues is the most likely manifestation that immediately follows the Baptism. You may want to reread the write-up.

Anyway, thanks for your courteous response.

1 Cor 14:4 - He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

Sir, Speaking in tongue is the most important part of Holy Ghost Baptism, as it is the initial evidence and should be peculiar to all who claim to baptized in Holy Ghost. There some gift I believed one do manifest w/o Holyghost Baptism, although being born again.

For example Jesus did not make it mandatory that Holyghost Baptism to be able to Heal sickness, Just believed

Mk 16:17 - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

But Speaking in tongue is important so that the person manifesting it will have assurance of his prayer. Also when you pray in tongue you will definitely pray the will of God, while praying in tongue Rom 8:26 is being fulfilled. For example Someone is in danger and needs prayer how would you pray for him, if you are ignorant of his condition, so Rom 8:26 comes in

u obviously don't or didn't understand my post.... My issue is we really don't understand what speaking in tongues mean; people speak vain words and blabbing and say they re peaking in tongues... in tongues re heavenly languages, that can be interpreted... u don't go speaking vain words and call it in tongues, jesus warned against it.

When the holy spirit baptism comes, it annoints people and manifest in different forms, not everybody has the gift and spirit of speaking in tongues; so speaking in tongues is only one of the evidence of baptism, they are many others... so let's not upturn the biblical doctrines, we re abusing the bible..m

these are two gifts. one enables you to speak another man's language which could come as a gift too but notice everybody(gift of diversity of tongues and interpretation) the other is the gift of tongues..please get your fact right.

bro; U are misquoting the bible, it is unfair;
In tongues, are heavenly languages; Paul adviced, for them to be spoken in church there must be people gifted with interpretation, if non is present at that gathering, then we re advised to keep silent;... "in tongues" being practised in churches today, are anti christ teachings...

The presence of the Holy Ghost is initially evident by speaking in tongues & importantly evident by power (for holiness and for service) which is facilitated by gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12)

You've already answered your own thread by saying "not everybody has the GIFT AND SPIRIT of speaking in tongue"

Can you show us where one was baptized with Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues was not attached to it in the scripture?

This will show you the difference between being baptized with Holy Spirit and having the gift of speaking in tongue.

Finally, let me correct this scriptural cherry picking by most people who always misinterpreted the account recorded on the day of the Pentecost which I noticed in your OP too. As I quoted here
In the book of acts 2:4 - after all men waited and the spirit of God fell upon the ; All men spake in tongues (of other languages) people from over 12 different tribes heard them speaking in their languages and were baffled as
to how they learnt such.... How many "in tongues" that are spoken by now a days Christians do they speak in other languages?

The reason I asked at beginning whether you understand yourself is this;
1. You admitted that tongues are HEAVENLY LANGUAGES, so was the language spoken by the Apostles in Acts 2 that everyone hearing them speaking in THEIR OWN languages was heavenly or not?

2. Let me hear your own side before I explain that scripture.

my brother why is ur heart so closed and bonded covalently to you narrow understanding of the scripture, u should be broad minded and willing to accept others ideas, cus in there might lie the truth, have u read the books I quoted, please read 1corr 14; read the whole chapter, U'll understand, Paul talked about the conduct in church; how in tongues, should be done "It SHOULD NEVER BE SPOKEN " in church if there re nobody to interpret... More so he(paul) stressed more on prophesy than in tongues. My issue, we hype the issue of in tongues so much and it is not biblical at all...

Also, in the book of acts, when the holy ghost came upon the disciples, Paul told the onlookers, that was one of the manifestation when the spirit anoints all flesh, many shall see vision e.t.c... so I think we should play down on tongues...

Donot speak vain words, with repitations and noise and call it in tongues..m that wasn't what christ thought us, when he taught us how to pray; if we wanna speak in tongues, it should be in our closeths(as it only edifies one's spirit)...

The evidence of Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in tongues; true, but that is just 1 of the evidence out of the many abound, others include the various gifts of God, Viz a Viz : prophecy, discernment, visions, healing e.t.c
.
I am afraid there is no truth to the claim in bold. undecided

■ You opinion seems to confuse between being filled with the Holy Ghost and manifesting the GIFTS. You need to receive the Holy Ghost 1st with an evidence of speaking in tongues before manifesting ANY of those gifts you mentioned. Kindly be guided.
Not attempting to hold brief here for the OP, but Scripture instead has it that being filled with the Holy Spirit aka the Spirit of Truth only happens after one becomes holy/perfect — John 8 vs 31 - 38 & John 14 vs 15 - 23, not before. While the gifts highlighted by Jesus Christ in Mark 16 vs 15 - 19 are given to those who believe.... born-again onwards. undecided

■ my argument, the manifestation of holy ghost is not just by speaking in tongues, when u baptised with the holy ghost, u acquire a gift, that is peculiar... and not everybody should speak in tongues, it should only be reserved for those that have the gifts of speaking intongues... so u can be baptised by the holy ghost, and begin to prophesy...
What is the identity of this Holy ghost? undecided

■ In my initial epistle, I clearly cited the gifts of healing and prophecy as some of the gifts you could benefit from HOLY GHOST Baptism. Furthermore, I categorically stated that speaking in tongues is the most likely manifestation that immediately follows the Baptism. You may want to reread the write-up. Anyway, thanks for your courteous response.
Where did you get this idea from? undecided

Thank you
