Good day. I created this thread in order to have more knowledge relating to computer antivirus.
I bought a new dell laptop about 4 months ago, windows 8.1. I have not installed an antivirus yet. Currently, i only use cds on it. My phone has been the only thing plugged with usb to it.
1. Does it come with an in-built antivirus?
2. If yes, is there any need to install any other antivirus?
3. If no, which antivirus will be the best or better than the rest? Someone suggested avg. But i've not seen it in the market. And i think of going for kaspersky.
4. I need detailed information about internet security as antivirus, and areas it covers.
I'll drop more questions with time.

Answer to your first question is yes... Windows 8+ all come with Windows Defender (an in built antivirus)
Question Two: I personally don't trust Windows Defender that much and will suggest that you get a third party antivirus
Question Three: Getting an antivirus depends on how much you are willinag to pay (for the original, fully licensed copy) if not then you can download Avast and get a free license online
Question Four: For most antivirus apps, their internet security features are heavily dependent on the type of license you have. For example, Avast free license does not include a full internet securty capability

hope these answer your questions

Thank you very much. Your answers are very helpful. I'm going for the original version of kaspersky 2015(1 user). It was when i went to buy it that i saw internet security written on the pack and got confused.

Just to add to what the FTC said, the problem with Windows Defender is that you have to update it almost 2 times a week. I personally use AVAST INTERNET SECURITY with a 946 days Liscence which you can get online. If you're more into online, the i recommend it for you but if no, then you can use the AVAST FREE ANTIVIRUS...
