English football is not beautiful football. It is totally commercial football with no love for the game. It's all about making money in England. Whereas, Spanish football is not totally commercial. There are actual strategies, moves, finishes, etc. A lot more than clear, pass, shoot from 40 yards out and score. Long range goals are good every once in a while but if every game has at least one long-ranger than it just shows the lack of talent in your players. And that is where all the difference comes in between the Spanish and the English football.

English teams really don't know how to play against a team which has such superior individual talent that one player alone can turn the whole game around without shooting every time he steps foot across the half-line. Dribbling, ball control, passing, positioning and placement shots are so perfect that it gets scary for the opponents. English teams don't know how to match up with such talent. Actually they don't have enough talent to match with the Spanish, Argentinean, Italians and Brazilians. So, what they do is play more defensive, much more defensive. So defensive that it gets negative. Full-backs don't make forward runs, center -backs don't push forward, midfield doesn't go up to support the forwards and there's only one striker who has to run from the half-line to the opposing penalty area. The English totally rely on counter-attacks and that's how they score goals. Whereas the the Spanish are passing and trying to find some room to get through the defenses.

Now, if I tell that to any English fan he would counter me by saying whatever it takes to win or if he's a little more smart-mouthed, he would tell me something of the lines "Yea, that sucks man but it's all good if your team is doing it." Now what the hell is that? Why the double-standards? It's ok for you to play negative but if someone else does it, it is not ok? What kind of football is that? Yes sir, that's English football for you!

I'm a fan of Barcelona and Barcelona has lost to many La Liga sides even their local rivals (Espanyol), league rivals (Real Madrid) and even to teams like Numancia and Osasuna (never heard of them, right?); but it never frustrated me or made me so mad that I want to swear out loud at the TV and even on Twitter. When there is an English opposition, they play so defensive at our home, so defensive that it's like if you're so scared to play a normal game than why did you leave the premises of your own stadium? And then they call it "strategy". Having all 11 of your players inside your own half for more than 80 percent of the time is strategy? And then there's UEFA always giving return legs to English clubs so they can play the first leg standing in a line between their goal posts and then play some football in the second leg.

The Americans are not ruining the beautiful game of football, The English have already ruined it, the Americans are just ruining what's left of it.

haha,  I think you are being a little bit harsh on the EPL. They do attack in domestic games, and as far as the top 4 go their games can be pretty exciting sometimes. Teams like Aston Villa and until last season Tottenham can also put on a good show. Maybe not as flambouyant as in Spain, but the pace and intensity of some of their games can be breathtaking at times. Even some of the mid-table teams can put on a good show on their day. Hell, I remember Middlesborough beating Chelsea 4-0 just a few seasons ago in what was an attacking massacre. England has a very rich football culture and even some 3rd division teams in England have more supporters than some La-Liga or Serie- A teams. They know their football, and though they don't like to admit it, appreciate what teams like Barca try to do.

I think it's just when it comes to knock out competition that they put winning ahead of everything. Their principle is pretty much "win at home and don't lose away", even if it means not having a plan to actually try to score when playing away. It is frustrating to us because we are used to a culture where teams always try to win regardless of where they play. It is all about scoring goals in Spain and the fans won't put up with defensive football. Coaches try it at times out of necessity but they usually end up losing their jobs.
