I mentioned much earlier that that guy called Ccomputers had scam written all over him, as observed from his "All Caps Post" which is peculiar to scammers. People should be very much wary of his likes, especially the lady "Joan" who i think is considering doing business with him.

Thanks for the warning and concern, Dearstan. But my company only works with people in the book business. We are based in the US and don't need computer hardware from Carlos computers. What is Dell, IBM, HP, Apple, etc, there for?

BTW, do you know of any authentic book distributors, store owners, wholesalers, and retailers that are based in Nigeria and would be interested in contracting whole-sale books at publisher price?

Thanks

Joan

Dear Ccomputers (Carlos Ventures),

It is not good work ethics to castigate people and their business anywhere, especially on public forums. The personal side you show in public tends to rub-off on your business as well.
I have not attacked you or your business, your website, or what you do on Ebay or anywhere else. Actually, if you scroll down, and view my posts to you on this thread, you'd see that I am one of the most supportive of you (with all due respect). I do not believe in putting others down to make myself (or the publishing company I work for) look good. I am a firm believer in, "Let your work/business speak for itself."

I said I do not need computers. Just like you may not need books. We are in different lines of business and that much at least is expected. Please, no need to get yourself worked up.

If people want to be pessimistic and attack you here on this thread, then just ignore them and move on. Continue to market your business to those who are interested, cos, no matter what others say, those who see value in what you do will find you and patronize you.

In my case, I work with a book publishing company (I am a book publicist). So unless you are interested in buying a contract/consignment of novels, for re-sale in Nigeria, then I don't see how our paths will be likely to cross.
At this point, the company I work with (based in Ohio, USA) does not need computer hardware. If in the near future, we decide it's time to upgrade our systems, or we come across another book publishing company who is in need of computer hardware, then, at that time, we may consider recommending Carlos Ventures. But for right now, it is not in our platform.

BTW, since you are based in Eastern Nigeria, do you know of any bookstore owner, wholesalers, distributors, or retailers that may be interested in carrying book consignments/direct orders from us at publishers price? It's okay if they're based in Onitsha, Enugu, Aba, Nsukka, Umuahia, Awka, Nnewi, Owerri, etc.

Thanks.

Why is the moderator not suspending this scammer of a guy called Ccomputers? Or is the moderator going to allow scammers to start using nairaland as a platform? The guy is evidently a fraudster. He doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. Look, guys, Nairaland will lose credibility too once you start allowing such people to source for unsuspecting victims from the site.

Justwise and Erico are spot on. They both know what they are talking about. I am also based in Uk, fully registered on ebay and operate paypal account; and if I might add, that "mad dog" called Ccomputer is talking loads of tosh.

How will you open paypal for someone without giving the person access to your credit card details? And if you subscribe to this, it means that you are allowing somebody to use your identity. It is fraudulent to do something like that. What the guy is saying he does for people is fraud in the UK and other western countries. you cannot open such for people when you are not a financial institution regulated by financial services authorities.

Besides Paypal is not just an e-payment instrument; it now offers credit cards amongst other financial services it currently renders.

The bitter truth is that you cannot do business in Ebay directly if you are based in Nigeria. This is what scammers and people like Ccomputers have done to us. The only indirect way has already been mentioned by others. You need a third party from non-blacklisted countries that would bid on your behalf and pay for the good to be shipped or freighted to you. The mode and terms of payments would be agreed by all parties involved.

Even you have to be wary of this third-party if he is a Nigerian based abroad. I am sorry for telling you guys the harsh reality. Scammers have destroyed our reputation so much that even people like me, based overseas are so handicapped in transacting business because of the lack of trust for Nigerians abroad. So, it is not only those of you based in Nigeria that are feeling the effects of what these guys have gone. Let us collectively show zero tolerance for the activities of these scammers.

Moderator, please get rid of this guy from nairaland.

Thank you fellow NL.

Hi All, the website below is a viable option to Ebay. We stock a broad range of consumer goods ranging from items as minute as cufflinks, designer shirts, shoes and bags, to high value items like plasma TVs and computers. We do retail and wholesale at some of the LOWEST prices available in the UK.Our prices are comparable to some of the lowest "Buy It Now'' prices on Ebay UK. Infact we have had experience trading as Power Sellers on Ebay.

Importantly,we ship to Nigeria at very reasonable rates. In most cases ,you do not need to pay upfront for goods ordered from our company (which is a bona fide UK registered company). All you need do is visit the website, then send an email or call us to indicate what you are interested in.We will respond giving you details on shipping cost, etc. We will ship all items to Lagos from where you can collect from one of our local Representatives. It is essentially cash and carry.

We also collaborate with two Christian ministries in Nigeria to help small business owners develop their businesses by providing a variety of goods at highly competitive wholesale prices direct from the UK .

We can also arrange container loads on ex chainstore ( Argos, Tesco etc ) products, at below 50% of the usual store prices.

Re: Can One Shop On Ebay From Nigeria? by ini20(m): 8:56pm On May 14, 2009
Yea your items will get shipped to Nigeria. I have been using Ebay since 2003, although when I first started there were really no Nigerian 419 guys there. Now they are "billions" of them. As a result you find some sellers actually putting up notices on their sales page like " Will not ship to Nigeria" Of all the 200 or so countries in the world, its Nigeria, everyone seems to mention.
Nonetheless, many Nigerians including me still buy and sell on ebay.
The shipping issue depends on the seller. If a seller explicity states he will not ship to Nigeria and you want his product, you can take any of theses two options:
1) Mail him before you bid, stating that you are geninue, although in Nigeria and see his response.Communication is key on ebay.
2) Contact someone with an account in the US to bid for you.

Apart from buying and selling on ebay, we run a service for people in buying or selling for them and quality services is guranteed.Send me a mail if this option might interest you. ini7000@yahoo.com

Hi Ifyalways, are you in the Uk? If so, give me a call and you could come to our office to see things for yourself in London .We also send out online catalogues with wholesale prices to our trade customers. They contain new arrivals and special wholesale CLEARANCE items.Right now we have a consignment of clothes from Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Etam, Next, etc  in Lagos for wholesale clearance. Almost all store tags are still in place with prices ranging from £45 to £15.We are giving all these at one fixed clearance price of £11 only per item.More will be arriving Lagos in 2 weeks containing shirts, tops, childrens wears, school bags, dresses, shoes, bags, suits, etc from M&S, Pierre Cardin, Gap, New Look,Marta Ponti,Christian Dior, etc

We sell ONLY AUTHENTIC items. No FAKES.Someone just informed me he buys TM Lewin ties in Lagos at  =N=1000 ! Those are obviously fakes. We sell at some of the CHEAPEST prices in the UK  and some of our items are not available on our website.

There are loads of womens clothes with some of our independent reps in Lagos available for immediate purchase.More will be arriving in 2 weeks time.We have chosen not to list them on our website because the majority of these are still with UK store tags and price labels. We are under a legal obligation to to detag these if selling them on our website in the UK.Please feel free to contact Godfrey on 08034360360 or Ben on 04024375 to see samples or to buy.
