p.s: If you have absolutely no musical talent whatsoever, you are really never ever going to blow. Even Vic O has "talents"... he is incredibly wack, full of confidence, has publicity, and strategies.

Blowing is a major concern for every Nigerian that tries his/her hand on music. I mean, who wouldn't? The fame, the blings, the influence, the respect,... those are factors that will inspire some and deceive even the least most untalented dude. Can I call myself an authority on this subject matter? Well, all I know is that I've studied the industry and its trend for a decade, so I know WHY YOU MAY NEVER BLOW. These are why:

YOU ARE OUTRIGHT WACK

Seriously, I hear many wack songs from all these stars wannabes. Wack attempts. Wack lyrics. Wack delivery. Wack flow. Wack concept. Wack voice. Wack personality. Wack attitude. Everything Wack. The industry doesn't even allow for average, yet you are below it, and you wan blow? Wanna know if you really Wack?

Your song never gets applauded by critics

You can't just do something good despite several attempts

YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Mediocres never get to be around for long. That's why we have a lot of 1-hit wonders. You can't be average and blow, or blow and maintain it. Not possible. I'm not even talking about being good enough all round. You might have a cool voice but can't write cool songs. You have to be good enough to employ the services of those who are good enough to do it for you. (Davido came up in my head right now). You just have to be GOOD ENOUGH, or save yourself some stress and time.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

So why do you really want to write that song? Rehearse it? Head to the studio to record it and release it? WHY? You want to make money? You want to pass a message? You want to do it because your friends are? You want to belong? It's the normal thing to do? You have money to waste? My guy, wetin you really want? Ask yourself? (If it's really for the money alone, you won't blow. Because just that first cheque is enough to kill your drive...)

POOR GENERAL PRODUCTION

Yea! Upcoming artistes! I get it, there isn't much mullah! Yea! But you have no excuse though. That's why it's easy to jump towards something poor in production when you have nothing to lose, than when there is a lot at stake when you get a solid production. Pathetic beats, poor mixing and mastering, bad song arrangements... this type of production will mess up even the best of hit songs. If you have to wait or get enough cash or travel far to get a tight production, do. IT IS WORTH IT

NOT ENOUGH PUBLICITY... AND LUCK

How do you get that dope song out? Maybe I should just give you a tip. notjustok is the largest music site on this continent, and they don't collect one Naira to put your song on. It's either you belong to one of these 3 categories:

YOU ARE A STAR ALREADY

YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS WITH THEM

Your song is very very good

I believe somebody on that 3rd category is my audience. And if you don't even know how to forward your song to them... gosh! Are you internet-alive at all?

What I'm getting at is this: a good song shouldn't empty your bank account because you wanna promote it. But really promote it!

YOU GIVE UP (EASILY)

Ijebu-Ode city wasn't built in a day. If you have the talent, passion and skills to become great, giving up easily will put an instant end to your aspirations. Even some give up with the way they react and talk about the struggle and hustle of being an upcoming act. You have got to hold on a little longer, you are just always a studio session away from blowing. NEVER EVER GIVE UP.

YOU AREN'T DESTINED TO BLOW...SO YOU NEVER BLEW

Really yes! You might just have been destined not to become a famous musical act, and no matter how long you try, it may never just work out. It is what it is. Music no be by force.
