I have come to be asking myself why it is compulsory for the church wedding ceremony to be performed even after traditional wedding is done. But before the advent of the church by the western world,we africans have been going through the traditional marriage rights which consumates wedding journey. Many churches won't support couple performing their conjugal rights if they have not wedded in the church. Even the church recognises tradition and the state which is why you would be required by some churches to bring your court wedding certificate and bans of marriage from your village before you are wedded in the church. So do we now say that these three processes: court wedding,traditional and white wedding are the complements and not substitutes. Can't one do just one and be certified legally married? And the western world that brought religion for us,why won't they adopt our own traditional culture too? Must we copy them?. So here comes my question:
1: Must one be wedded in the church before you can have the canal knowledge of your spouse?
2: Can the three rights in marriage: court,traditional and white wedding be called substitutes or complements?
3: Must traditional wedding be done in the village or can't it be done elsewhere like those not staying close to home?
4: What is the moral backing or consequences of one not performing the three rights or at least two?
5: Among the three rights, which one supersedes ,rather which one is most important among the three?
I am not for or against but I just need to be cleared or for you to add your own understanding,wealth of knowledge and contribution to this thread.

Do your traditional wedding and go to court for registry. If you still have enough money to waste, you can waste them doing the bull shit called white wedding.
