The New Wave Of Tribal Sentiments In Nigeria. by amazingspiderma: 12:24pm On Nov 24, 2015
Tribal sentiments is the latest trend in Nigeria. For every appointment made recently there has been comments made to point attention toward this trend.Whether deliberately or not,I believe a post on this topic is long over due.
In the previous decades, condemning other tribes were myths in the mind of children, even when adults talk about it,it was done in close doors. Now even elders of our land, are projecting this evil on national television. Currently, the politics in Lagos reached a new height due to statements uttered. This was just an example.Things have gone so bad that even today's kids look forward to tribal arguments on social media, before they brush thier teeth in the morning.Such is the New Nigeria.
It was started by our leaders, people who felt they were gods. Those who felt they own the earth. Some sect even refer to their tribe as race.Such comments by educated people who went to school and had earlier knowledge of the fact that there are only four races in the world. It is a dissappointment,to our generation. In Nigeria, only one race exist, the negros.Currently every tribe has sort to refer to it's self as a race. This is the new madness, ravaging our society. It is is not just cutting accross the political land scape,it is deepening into generations.
Now it is no longer offensive for kids to utter.

Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. Joel 1 v 3-4.
Hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,Envyings, murders, revellings, and all evil devices.
We as a nation have not invented anything so far,but these thoughts.

The shameful part is that most of our leaders have lost the moral justification to question the youth of today, when they openly make such comments.
Our elders have to start watching what they say and do in public, because children are learning fast.

The spark of this ignorance, has become a wild fire in little time.

It time to speak against it,publicly. It is time for society to frown at it.It time to reverse this ugly trend.
This government has to creat vehicles to address this trend,if it wants to accelerate development process in any form.
The government can carve out an oppourtunity, and creat a drive for unity even from this menace.
A great Nigeria is first and foremost defined by its people. The secondary things will require less effort to put in place, when we do the first things first.
Our tribe is our identity.
