It is quite embarrassing and sad to say that Edo state do not have a permanent orientation camp. Instead a government school, Okada Grammar School, facility is turned to a temporary camp while the students are dislodged and sent to a primary school, Ikaladerhan primary school in the community to study under trees and Godforsaken classrooms.
The students are forced to squeeze themselves into these classrooms like sardines and the effect of this is that they wander about in gangs disturbing the learning process of the pupils in the primary school, stealing, unending noises and menace to the community.
I believe the state government's negligence to ensuring quality welfare for corp members is the primary cause of this decay. Also, NYSC's indifference to this situation and the plight of the community, the schools and the students further compounds the situation.
Something has to be done to remedy this situation and render normalcy to this quagmire.
