In a bid to put a smile on the faces of Lagos Stateworkers this Yuletide, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has said he would increase their salariesrather than distributing bags of rice which has been a tradition prior to this time.
Olabowale Ademola,of Lagos State has said his government will not be giving out christmas rice and other items that are usually distributed by theState Government during the yuletide season.
According to a circular numbered 153 and signed by the Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, the Governor will instead increase workers basic salaries by 25percent.Those in the know said the Governor decided to cancel the giving out of Christmas rice because not every worker usually got it.
They said the Governor knows it has not been a transparent process in the past and so he will be cancelling the exercise this year and increase workers’ salaries instead, to ensure every worker gets a Christmas gift.

So a person whose salary is 25k will get an extra 6,250 this month. ThatThat's better than a few cups of rice and chicken which might not get to you or someone somewhere will corner the contract for the supplying of chicken and rice and not deliver or deliver pidgeons and call them chickens

In times like these, you give out "allowance" or "13th month pay" as the private firms do.

This is just to remind us that some guys are not just good managers.

This was exactly my thought but I've read the post time and time again and it says nothing about a permanent/temporal increment.

The post was vague. It didn't say it was a permanent gesture neither did it say it was temporal.

That was why I made that comment.
