Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, has assured his supporters that the election tribunal will do justice to the confusion surrounding the governorship poll.

Addressing PDP stakeholders at the Government House, Lokoja, Tuesday, the governor said the tribunal will soon decide whether it is legal for a political party to have two candidates in the course of election and whether a person’s votes could be transferred to another person.

“As my tenure winds up on January 27, 2016, I have already constituted a transition committee to ensure smooth handover of power. This is our obligation as a government.

“However, with the Governorship Election Tribunal already in place, we shall soon be going before them to ask germane questions. As far as the law is concerned, we have not seen where it was written that a person’s votes can be transferred to another. We are sure of victory.

He added “As a person, I do not have problems with anyone. I am a peace loving person but the issue at stake is a constitutional one that must be given attention for the sake of posterity.”

Responding on behalf of Kogi West and Kogi Central, former Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Sam Ola Akande, appealed to the governor to assembly a team of competent lawyers to ensure that what rightly belongs to the PDP was not thrown away.

He said the issue at hand is alien to the Nigerian constitution and should therefore be treated with utmost care and dexterity. He hailed the governor as a humble leader who has laid the foundation for the development of the state.

The transition committee set up by the governor was headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Gbemiro Jegede.

If there is someone who has a chance of getting victory at the court, it is Faleke. It won't surprise me one bit if the court install Faleke as the lawful winner of the poll.

Wada and PDP can go and boil beans.

Ethnic democracy in what sense; Wada and the PDP got votes from all three Senatorial Districts. In fact the margin of victory was secured in his home front of Igala land where their understanding of development boils down to giving handouts rather than embarking on laudable projects that would survive the test of time.

Two key factors worked against Wada: Federal might and the poor brand perception of the PDP. As an individual, administrator and leader, he stands shoulder high above his peers, which even the late Audu had alluded to in many public functions. That notwithstanding, it's important that the recent events in Kogi are allowed to run the full course of the law, just so that the wrong precedence isn't set. And as so called democrats, we should plug into such mindset irrespective of our feelings about Wada.

The youth you advocate for lack the self discipline required to move this country forward. Wada as an individual is a stand out, from both the moral and management side of things. A question for you: during the course of the campaign, was he for once accused of corruption or mismanagement?

Kogi is perhaps the most complex state to govern in Nigeria, primarily due to it's foundations which weren't anchored upon economic viability but on the desire for the military to decimate potential States which posed threats to their continued hold onto power....Gideon Orkar and Ben Ekele come to mind.

It clearly shows that you lack knowledge of the relationship between the State and Local Councils. And that's in addition to the fact that you are oblivious of the realities of Nigerias revenue challenges...

If I may ask, how many States pay minimum wage in Nigeria?

The ongoing projects when completed would certainly illustrate the quality of thought of the individual who conceptualized them. The problem with Nigerias democracy as things stand boils down to the fact that we expect miracles to take place in 4 years, which in itself is a fallacy. This mindset is the primary reason why lots of projects embarked in Nigeria rarely survive the test of time, because the goal is to impress electorates in view of securing votes....not sustainable development...

exactly, you're right. You can be sure that Mr fayose will only start meaningful projects by 2017, he knows that it will still be fresh in the memory of the electorates. For now, he's only chilling and focusing on the ponmo, pepper projects.

Ekiti just like Kogi is a nonviable State because it lacks a virile economic base. These states lack the internal capacity to unlock there overstated economic potentials, and tend to rely on Federal allocations for survival. Therefore, the only reliable means of embarking on laudable projects is by borrowing huge sums of money from Banks, and when that happens it would lead to the Osun scenario where their monthly take home after settling all debts is a paltry 52m Naira.....An insolvent and unsustainable situation that could lead to anarchy.

You will, Sir.
This we know.

Anything other than you being declared the winner of the 2015 guber polls of Kogi State will tantamount to a serious travesty of justice and a miscarriage of the extant laws.

And let me warn the people that are pushing the APC led Fed. Govt. of Nigeria to take the Kogi State for the APC to be wary of the fact that that would equally amount to them exposing the insincerity of this government to protecting our democracy.

Even if it has been a camouflage rope of 'sainthood', resolve to entrench free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria, or end to corruption that the present government of President Muhamadu Buhari has worn, or a mask of such, if the tribunal/court fails to do the needful in this case, then it would be obvious that it has been influenced, compelled or coerced by the Fed. Govt to start delivering cash and carry judgment.

That's the point most people fail to grasp. This isn't about Wada but about ensuring that the right precedence is set for the benefit of prosperity. Unfortunately, most opinions tend to get trapped in discussing personalities, as opposed to the technicalities of the case at hand - rather unfortunate.
