Please I need the support of Nairalander to stop this exploitative act of PHCN. Even when there is no power for months bills keep running with the same tarrif, How can we stop them from billing till there is a stable power supply in Nigeria(even if its a dream). Or how do we compel the organization to make available pre paid meter. I cant imagine paying any of my cell phone service provider without any service. This is frustrating.

Try sueing and making a scape goat. Show others the way to follow so that it incites mass diligence towards their rights. I will even support you sef in any way I can if you are serious.

I was given the impression Nigerians weren’t connected in the first place.

To be honest my main advice is pushing for pre paid meter. What part of the country are you in? You don't need to answer if you don't want to, but basically look up the bodies available to report such issues and you could even attempt reporting to NEPA headquaters in your area. Again, I think it would make more sense to go and ask why pre paid meters aren't made available. Are there laws stating that you can't go to another state that sells pre paid meters and obtain and install such? I doubt it and if such laws aren't there then find a way to obtain pre paid because it would be difficult to prove the duration of your power supply in the law courts and such might prove futile.

Everyone in Nigeria should strive to obtain pre paid meters and cut short the opportunity for corruption in PHCN. I have witnessed first hand how these bills are "allocated". It is not necessarily about the money but such blatant corruption in broad daylight is quite irritating. GET PRE PAID METER

A way to stop estimated(baseless) billing is to shift the burden of proof to PHCN. Estimate(meter) your monthly electricity consumption and record it for record purposes.Write it at the back of your bill. Pay the amount that you have arrived at by your objective estimate irrespective of what was issued by PHCN promptly. This should send a signal that, as a good customer of PHCN, you will only pay for what is supplied. This also guarantees that they will not disconnect your supply because you can simply point it out that they had been making a mistake in your billing all along, provided you can back it up with your meter reading as evidence so that PHCN can prove how they arrived at the bill that they posted to you. Please tell your friends. This can help stop the corrupt practices at PHCN.

my dear they call the billing system estimated bill whereby the phcn officials sits in their offices and generate a bill without reading your elec. meter.

@ POSTER : Try and get a pre -paid meter. i think it will address your problems.

Lol, your post is over 15 yrs. It saddens my heart that we are still in this mess.

I am also looking for how to write them that they should stop billing and remove me from their customers list. Tinubu is about to destroy Nigeria. Maybe it's his own way to make each tribe waka
