Others can set your limits only if you give them permission to do so. It is annoying that some people never get beyond the limits they are permitted by their peer, teacher, guardian, parent and comments from people.

Here is a story of an expression from a professor that attempted to set a limit for the academic performance of one student while attempting to secure admission into university: “young man, I have been going over your high school transcript, well, to put it bluntly, I am not sure you are a college material, though we are reluctantly letting you into the university, even though we are sure you cannot possibly achieve your dreams here or make it… Having refused to accept the limit, set by the professor’s comments, the same professor had this to say later; you are out most pleasant surprise! You really worked hard to achieve your dreams. You are goal oriented, in achieving your goals.

There will always be those who try to set limits to your goals in life, they think they know you better than your know yourself.
