Nigerians madly follow the latest trends - whether it concerns fashion, music or sports. Having a web site is in vogue now and everyone worldwide is following this trend assiduously. Companies and businesses, whether big or small, have their own sites. Even individuals have created personal web sites, for profit, entertainment or for sharing information. But Nigerians seem not fully exploiting this phenomenon.

Blindly following the latest fad is not right without going into the pluses and minuses. Before creating a web site, a few factors need to be taken into consideration, like, expense, maintenance, utility and web host.
After deciding the budget for web site creation, try to find a web host that is neither too expensive nor too cheap. The trouble with cheap hosts is their reliability. Many hosts providing cheap rates are low on efficiency(both in bandwidth and backup). Some have even closed down and disappeared without a trace. However, value for money should also be given importance. When you are planning a long-term web site, all these points should be considered.
Next question is whether a professional needs to be hired for the job. If the site has a simple layout, you can do it yourself by using programs and learning a bit of coding. For bigger and complex sites, it is recommended to get the help of a professional. They can do a better job in designing and also make the site secure. Security is a major concern when the site is used for online business.
