That is true, I was changing in Kano and they gave me 240, pound now is going for 310. The speculators have finally failed in devaluing the naira.

For those that always hike prices of goods/services, basing it on dollar increase....hope say una don hear am! Expecting it to hit 200 soon!!!

Now, where's this economist who was ranting here about oil this, balance of trade that? You see that it was just an artificial hike, just like in petrol stations!!

So what if buhari had devalued to like 270, according to those dundee big coat wearing economists that regurgitate paper economics they learnt from bretton woods institution, without attempting to streamline knowledge with native intelligence ?

I believe buhari has managed our tough times well enough, and the drought we are in will be over sooner than later.

i dont think that this is a good news. The naira is at it's weakest this times because it is very volatile. Don't be surprised to see it sold 320 tomorrow.

No investor would want to put his money down in a currency as unstable as the Naira ATM.

It is not entirely artificial, demand of dollar for import has actually declined. Many importers of goods simply stopped demanding at 400, as there is little possibility they can make profit at that margin.

His submissions are 100% correct. Weather artificial or super ficial or whatever. It was clearly stated that demand was also greater than supply....the supply was the one being hoarded to force Buhari to devalue.Drop in oil price still plays a major role. Our forex is mostly gotten from oil sales.
So where did he ere in what he was saying?

Yea, his inputs were right...but didnt apply to what we experienced this week. It was just the greedy Nigerian in action, defying economic principles when they have the chance!

Why do we base the currency value just on price of oil. The value of a country's currency goes beyond the sale of one commodity, even weather changes can affect the dollar. In the UK Boris Johnson joining Brexit crashed the pound. By Buhari declaring he would not devalue the naira, the speculator had to convert back their excess dollars back to naira which is why the naira has gained in value. As Ifeanyi Uba said, the true value of Naira is N200. Naira is not in the international basket of currencies so to get the value is easier since it is controlled mostly be demand and supply by CBN.

I rest my case. Bros how is much is EBA and Egusi for your area.

Its too early to celebrate. We don't know the source of the miracle. Are we sure our foreign reserves have not been badly touched?

Tell him! A group of greedy criminals want to steer us away from course! That's what I think, like as the fuel station owners just became tired of selling petrol at #150 - #200

If they told you that because a man is a pastor, if he sleeps on the same bed with his naked househelp for one year, he won't touch her, will you believe that? Neither will I believe that these foreign exchange restrictions work. As Sanusi said, they have worked nowhere

The foundation is faulty. The true solution is to allow the naira to float which may mean an initial devaluation of the naira to around 230 - 240.
This is what will stabilise the currency.

If the expansionary budget is passed, the naira should touch if not surpass the 400 mark easily.
