Hungarian doctors receive lectures during their training on Tropical Medicine at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria yesterday.

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria is today completing a three-week training of 16 doctors from Hungary on tropical diseases.

Professor Sani Garko of ABU’s Faculty of Medicine said yesterday that the training is part of the collaboration that the university has with Budapest University of Hungary.

“This collaboration cuts across many areas like engineering, medicine, alternative energy, among others. This training was organised by ABU to train the Hungarian doctors on tropical medicine, an area in which they are not versed,” Garko explained.

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Dr. Beata Hunfalvy of the Budapest Medical Centre said the training afforded them the opportunity of acquiring knowledge on tropical diseases and their cure.

Hunfalvy said they were surprised by the expertise of the Nigerian doctors, saying that they would go back home not only with the knowledge they acquired but “with some of the wonderful things that we have seen here.”
