It is sad that after 600years many Africans are too gullible to believe anything WEST.

Obama was in Ghana not because he wants any democracy but to SECURE new OIL deal for USA.

"U.S. President Barack Obama's trip to Ghana on July 10th-11th is a subtle White House oil strategy to secure another source of energy on the continent of Africa," says Patrick Morris, Chief Executive Officer of Gold Star Resources Corp. (TSX-V; GXX; OTC Bulletin Board: GXXFF; www.goldstarresources.com). Gold Star Resources is a Vancouver-based company seeking high-impact 'onshore' oil and gas opportunities in Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana in West Africa. The company recently announced its acquisition of International Resources Strategies Liberia Energy Inc. (IRSLE). Gold Star also announced that it signed a Letter-of-Intent with Bengal Bight Ghana to acquire 100% of the hydrocarbon rights to the Tampoum mining concession, approximately 1,000 square km, in Cote d'Ivoire.

We are so many christians but we dont understand our bible.

Hosea 4.6:
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Why spoil a good topic with religious crap? This is politics section.

I always said it that one of the reasons Obama visited is theat Ghana recently discovered vast quantities of offshore oil.

he doesn't need to visit ghana to have access to their oil. There's a market for these things. . . . . . . .duh !

The religious quote is just to show that even we READ bible, we never understand whats inside otherwise, AFRICA would have progress.

It is 100% relevant. If we had bother to see knowledge we would have know why Obama came to Ghana and not believe the official version.

Point noted. Africans should read between the line and seek information to make inform decision about their future.

Democracy in Africa is surely last thing on Obama's mind otherwise he would not have visited Mubrak, the sit-tight Egpytian dictator in June.
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by texazzpete(m): 12:02pm On Jul 13, 2009
As someone said before, there's a market for Oil if one needs it. Is it wrong for a country's leader to seek ways of economic co-operation between other countries? Obama was in Russia just before he came to Ghana. Of course he held talks with Putin/Medvedev on improving economic ties between both countries.
are we that jobless that we seek the sinister in the mundane?

back2back:

The religious quote is just to show that even we READ bible, we never understand whats inside otherwise, AFRICA would have progress.

The same Obama you try hard to malign clearly and accurately underlined the reason why africa fails to progress

1. War
2. Tribalism
3. Corruption
4. Stubborn and desperate cling to power by rulers and failure to embrace true democracy.

If we understood what was in the bible we wouldn't be labelling innocent kids in Calabar as witches. We wouldn't be killing and maiming innocent children all in the name of religion. So don't bring that kain gist here.

exactly.

Mubrak has been around since 1979. He is a dictator. So why visit dictator if you want to promote democracy??

But because Obama needs him in middle east. His democracy is OK.

Obama should all tell fools he in was in Ghana because of democracy!

His trip to Egypt had a different objective to the one to Ghana and that wasn't solely an oil based trip. Do you have an idea of the proven reserves in Ghana?

u need to get self checked at any local hosiptal - as somebody as stated their is an international market for oil and their no absolutely need for America to enforce its ideology on Ghana.

tell me what is wrong with this symbotic relation anyway. " America needs oil and Ghana need dollars"

ow11:

Ok. Sure, it's not a conspiracy theory. Obama and the US just love Ghana, and they wanna celebrate the excellent (sic) democracy put in place by Rawlings, a benign dictator of almost 30 years experience.
I mean, after 8 years of John Kuffour, Atta-Mills, Rawlings' former VP, is running Ghana. True democracy indeed!
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by Bennyboy11: 4:29pm On Jul 13, 2009
Jealousy won't get you anywhere. Rawling's was not in power for thirty years far from the truth get your facts right, and like it or not ghana has the closest thing to a perfect democracy on the continent so don't hate.
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by MandingoII(m): 4:33pm On Jul 13, 2009
At Least we know Ghana will give back to its people.

Unlike Nigeria.

Why Nigeria so jealous of Ghana?
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by Bennyboy11: 5:00pm On Jul 13, 2009
Good question, it is mainly because

Nigeria is a failed state and its people have the worst reputation on the planet whiles Ghanaians are one of the most liked and respected on the continent.

As well although they are undoubtly capable cause Nigerian achievements are unrivaled in the black community truth be told, there is no indication of future improvements because they are too big too, too complex a nation to rule. Ghana on the contrary in my opinion has the most realistic chance of freeing itself from poverty because we are a fairly straight forward nation to rule.

It must be very annoying to see a people who are not fundamentally better than you forge forward ahead of you, especially when you know your potential exceeds thiers and thats what's happening with Nigeria.

Although the jealousy is understandable remember that Ghana is also english speaking and when Nigeria eventually becomes completely uninhabitable you have somewhere else in west africa to go to.

How so?
Name those TRUTHS!!!!

Name the Nigerians in Africa or Diaspora that are MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by Bennyboy11: 5:25pm On Jul 13, 2009
I'm not saying they are making a difference, I'm saying they do have high achievers. They are like Ghanaians as far as education and striving to do better, but obviously with such a population they are bound to have more achievers. No need to mention names because it is beside the point but usually black achievers are African and not always but a lot of the time Nigerian.

But don't miss the point Ghana has more control over its future than nigeria that's what I meant
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by back2back(f): 8:53pm On Jul 13, 2009
this post is not about Ghana or Nigeria.

It is about reading between the lines and be able to make inform decision instead of folllowing the crowd.

Same USA killed Nkuruma. Open your eyes. It is nothing about democracy.
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by Bennyboy11: 11:45pm On Jul 13, 2009
You can be a sceptic all your life or make the best of the cards dealt you. I think Obama represents seismic change in the world order and Africans should take advantage and try and improve our lives. The next eight years if he is reelected will be the least imperialistic America is likely to be ever. I am happy that Ghana's framework seems to be in order at this opportune moment.
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by ikeyman00(m): 11:52pm On Jul 13, 2009
ghana have their own wahala just like naija

but the diference here they let the order of goodness take over

hence they can afford steady power in their main and little city with some good roads

but their docility and traqulity in nature makes them seemed a bit edged over us

shall i say more

who say arm robbery or ewe against the ashantti doesnt fly in ghana

nigeria must get serious if we will ever practise what we preach

before u foolish nigerians beingin to demand an appology from the west, clean your house first

it wouldnt take that much, still would they change the condition and the enviroment in which they live for better

canvassin for secession aint doing us any justice, we are citizen of the soil and so shall we tackle those bastard togerther

afterall most developed country are diverse

I don't know whether this back2back is one of those who recieved $5 million to rengage in Aso Rock propaganda on the internet

But this is what I know, whoever is behind that name is no female

You can believe what you like but Ghana's oil reserve is too small to fundamentally shift Obama policy in Africa. Whats the comparison between Ghana's oil and America's oil reserve in Alaska alone, let alone America's oil interest in Saudi, Iraq, Nigeria, Venezuela.

Ghana has not even found that much oil to affect West Africa policies let alone World Affairs towards Africa.

Obama's policy on the long term is to source alternative energy, effectively before US will finish all the oil in every other part of the world for Ghana's oil to mean much most of the world cars will be electric, most of the world's energy will be Solar and Nuclear, and probably the UN would have agreed ambitious low carbon targets that will make burning of fossil fuels very unattractive.

By the way if FOX is where you want to read about Obama policies, I think you are at the wrong place, you can only be missinformed

you missed it. It is about new virgin commercial oil field.

Of what use is N100 if it costs you N90 to get it while you can get N50 by spending only N5?
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by back2back(f): 7:48am On Jul 14, 2009
Also reacting to part of Obama’s statement where he attributed the decay in the African continent to sit-tight African leaders, Falana also said: “President Obama was in Egypt recently. Is Egypt a democratic country? President Mubarak has been in power since 1981, he was recently in Saudi Arabia , did they hold elections there? So you can’t use lack of democracy or free reign of corruption in Africa to excuse the connivance of the United States government or Western European countries, the connivance of these countries is the destruction of the economy of Africa .”

Gbam!! That's Falana.
Re: Revealed: Obama, Ghana & Oil by Bennyboy11: 10:07am On Jul 14, 2009
Always blaming others for your mistakes. World factors and conflicting interests and ideologies will always exist but it's up to you to look out for you. Nigeria has nothing to show for over $300bn of oil revenue since you became independent. The opportunity cost of having chief this and chief that in thier private planes etc is your current state of existence.

Yes imperialism exists and it can and does hamper progress. You only need to look at the reaction to chinese recent successes to realise that people in high places hate progress elsewhere and would love to maintain the status quo, however after $300bn in oil revenue which you physically had in your own hands, it would not be over ambitious to see constant electricity, clean water and basic infraustructure in Nigeria sorry but that part Na your own fault.

why is UK not blaming itself for July London bombing?

What a stupid thread.
If obama wanted oil he'd have gone to angola or nigeria. The oil discovered in ghana is not even as much as that in akwa ibom state.
