My friend wants to join the US marines, he is not a Nairalander so i thought I can use this forum to help him as he has been using google and I have not noticed any headway. I also heard him mention something about French guard please any one with information about this? Thanks

Join OPC and you might have the chance of being a US marine.

I think he would be required to have a green card before he can be allowed to apply to join the US Marines. The French Foreign Legion accepts an application from anyone who can make it to France, no visa required to apply.

But to get to France now nah real Wahala, By the way, is it possible or how easy it is to apply for france visiting visa while in USA on a visiting / student visa .

I think it's easier to get it if you are in the US on a student visa, they will view your student status as a tie. You don't loose anything by applying for it, worst that can happen is they will deny you the visa.

Can he get it if he goes in as a visitor?

Being in a country not your native one
and applying for a visa for a third country makes everything much, much harder.
It becomes very difficult to prove your ties and convince them that you will leave on time.

hmnn. Thanks. Am actually eyeing that French foreign legion stuff due to its nearness to citizenship which doesnt take up to a year once ure medically fit.

Ok as someone who is presently in the US Army, I will explain to you how you can join the marines. The first thing you need is to be a green card holder. Contact a marine recruiter and take the test. The test is called ASVAB and it comprises of the stuff you already know before. You need to score high to be considered, for the army I think u need to score 40%but I don't know the cut off for the Marines.

After passing the ASVAB, you are scheduled for a medical at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station), there you do your physical and other health related test to ascertain your level of fitness. This is where you sign your contract and the next thing is for you to go to the boot camp.
However, coming out as a marine is not automatic because trust me boot camp is tough, it is more mental than physical but if you are strong both mentally and physically you will scale through....Just know you sit ups, Pull ups and be able to run. Also, your shooting skills have to be superb....Then you can now call yourself a marine and wear the coveted Service Uniform that makes any girl drool. LOL

The US Marines is basically an Infantry army of the Navy, nothing to drool about IMO. It's Infantry, entry requirements for Infantry are the lowest when compared to other soldier roles. This applies in all armies,not just US.

With all due respect what you just wrote is completely incorrect. I am infantry in the US Army and I trained out of Ft Benning in Georgia, there is no written rule that infantry requirements are the lowest. I scored 92% on my ASVAB.

Well since you are not a woman I wouldn't expect you to drool at the sight of a well dressed man in a service uniform, the question is do you know what the service uniform is. As someone who have been to many occasions in my Army Service Uniform and witnessed/see reactions of females around me, I can boldly tell you women drool.

Are you in America? if you are in America, all you need do is check online and apply. Indeed.com is a very good resource to get jobs. Getting this jobs outside of America is not easy. Getting a job in America is one of the easiest things, once you send your resume and you have the right qualification and experience then you are sure of getting the job.
