The sense of vision is one of the most commonly
known special senses in humans. The sense of
sight is made possible by the eyes which are the
organs of vision which detect light and convert
the light into series of electrochemical impulses,
making seeing / vision possible.
There are series of habits and activities we
engage in daily that have a deteriorating effect
on our eyesight, which if we are able to avoid,
goes a long way in helping to maintain a good
eyesight for most of our life time.



Smartphone usage:

With the most recent evolution of smartphones,
and the want by everyone to use an android or
iPhone, the chief culprit here is staring into your
smartphone for hours or for all day long, even in
certain cases where we ought to increase fonts
to be able to read properly, we do not might
straining our eyes, just because of our interest
on whatever it is.



Self medication:

When it comes to eye issues, self medication is
so not advisable and must be avoided like a
plague! As soon as many feel an itch or a little
pain in the eye, they do not mind using a
previously used eye drop or taking a particular
prescription because it worked for a friend or
relative.



Eye rubbing :

Its always enjoyable when the eye itches and
you start rubbing, however, you wouldn't find it
funny at all by the time you come up with a red
eye.



Sticking fingers into the eye :

Despite the fact that so many people know that
dirts that hide under the fingernails can be
introduced whenever you stick your finger into
your eyes, many are still guilty
of this, and end up introducing germs into the
eyes.



Going to bed with contacts :

Research has it that going to bed in contact
lenses introduces about 10-15% more germs into
the eyes.



Watching TV at night :

Its quite tempting to want to watch that your
favourite TV show just when you are about to
sleep, in the dark, however, it goes a long way to
affect your eyes in the long run if
done continuously!



Reading in low light areas:

This is quite commonly spread amongst
students, that reading at night with insufficient
light does more harm than good to such eyes.



Not getting sufficient sleep:

To always keep your eyes in good shape, always
maintain good sleeping diet, not forgetting to
also eat a balanced diet everyday. A balanced
diet gives the eye the necessary nourishment it
needs to function effectively and provide good
vision.



Using expired eye health products :

If you have a habit of keeping medications for so
long, then it is better you know that the usage of
expired medications is so harmful to the body.
Either which way they are imbibed into the body,
expired products usage are so deadly that it
complicates ailments or diseases and can also
lead to death in some cases.
