Some might be lucky to get jobs via man-know-man; but for the not so lucky, there is hope.
I have seen a lot of them (the very determined ones) who turned out to be employers of labour and top enterpreneurs.
I hope you realise that some of the so called 1st class and 2nd class upper graduates cannot defend their certificates?
These days, degrees are "bought" virtually in 9ja.

I agree a lot of 1st and 2nd class degree holders cannot defend their degrees but the point is third class degree holders never even get the chance to prove themselves because they are never shortlisted. But nothing is impossible, you must start small by small, I think at some point, your experience overrides whatever qualification you had from school. Just start with whatever job you get first no matter how small the pay is, in the end maybe your experience will bail you out.

1) Do a thorough self-reflection. How did you earn a 3rd Class? (Please make sure you blame no one)

2) Turn around the shortcomings that led to the 3rd Class in the first place

3) Try to earn a professional designation, e.g. ACA, ITIL (if applicable to your degree and career plan)

4) Pursue life with your innate strengths - Those strengths might have caused your downfall in school, (e.g. prefering to socialize rather than hit the books), but out in the real world, you will kick the butts of nerds!

Finally, my classmate in university passed out with a 3rd, And for the first 10 years after graduation, this guy led everyone in the marketplace, even the 1st Class holders! In fact, the 1st Class holders are still way behind him today.

The worst thing you can do is write yourself off. Go for it!

The fact that you are a 3rd Class Graduate doesn't mean all hope is lost. The grade you graduate with,
does not determine who you are. There is a quote I love so much and it is by Eleanor Roosevelt;

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"

Never look down on yourself because of your grade. Believe there is a bright future for you and get something going.
Even if no one employs you, employ yourself and in no mean time, somebody will notice you.

I do strongly believe that anyone, let alone a thrid class person can have a bright future even in the worse of all countries. All he or she need do is to open his or her eyes to serveal opportunities. Like my pastor says, IT takes for you to see a need and then move to meet it for you to be successful and this principle applies even in business.

He gave a story about two men who went to India to seek greener pastures. On getting there both discovered that the people in that place didn't have shoes; they all walked barefooted. Both of them were angry and then went back to their country. One resolved not to ever go back since that land had nothing to offer him. The second saw it as an opportunity. He got back, bought large quantities of shoes and went back to start selling at a cheap price and with time he owned the biggest shoe company in teh world and is a multi-millionaire.

The lesson? Don't think about what the country can do for you. think instead of what you can do for your country. Meet needs and you'll be teh richest for it.

yes, i finished wit a 3rd class n i work in an oil n gas coy. All u nid is prayer n determinatn, dere is notin God cannt do. Also apply 4 jobs in coys where d grade isnt important.

why not? am a graduate of psychology and 3rd class for that matter. i know i av a brighter future andi know more than 20 student that came out with second class honours and can not do anything with it.

Are you new in this country those with 1st class are not better than you why didnt you give those lecturers what there want. didnt you see that they will teach you how to ride bicycle then give you trailer to drive during exams there are telling you indirectly that we have a driver for you,come and pay i am in my 300L and am on 4.6 my friends who graduate gave me the secret,this is a lesson for the rest of you if you like keep dolling and graduate with a useless grade,your certificate is first impression before any employer.so get the impression first,its not cheap to graduate well in nigeria.

education is not the school you went to. If you finish and stop reading books then you are a failure, keep reading,
learning and you'll beat those first class people. that is the simple truth.

It's going to be hard, first learn to discipline yourself to accomplish watever project you set for yourself - that is the
only advice that you should listen to. Because that is what matters at the end of the day.
