Please I need your advices. I bought my first car, a tokumbo Camry 2007 recently and I need your suggestions based on the following. I'm yet to visit a mechanic but I just want suggestions so that I won't fall wrongly.

The car drives smooth except for sometimes it jerks.
It came with remote key but the remote key doesn't work. I suspect it could be dead battery.
It shows the amber Check engine sign on the dashboard
The security is not activated, and doesn't blink
The engine compartment seem dusty, I want to know if I should visit a car wash
Some say I should change the tyres.

Please I need your suggested recommendations on the steps I should follow even though I visit a mechanic.

The yellow amber "check" sign means there is a problem with your powertrain (engine and transmission) this problem could be a permanent or temporary one. First thing you need do is run a comprehensive scan on your to know what fault error (s) are stored in the pcm. Repairs would be carried out based on the fault on error.

It is normal for the security to blink when your key is removed in the ignition cylinder, once your key is inserted into the ignition the transponder chip synchronizes with the immobiliser and the ecu to initiate a start. The latter should be yours if not your would never start.
