This is the final verdict:
1. Mr Adams, you lied, and over-reacted. Check your temperament.

2. Miss Kemi, you are stuborn and insubordinate for leaving the hall without permission. Its the rule..

I Just saw this on the first thread. I copied and pasted it here for you guys.

Stapler123:
For those of us who know and also witnessed this incident, we know that both the student and the lecturer were wrong. The lecturer was VERY wrong to have used belt on you, but you were wrong for (I) using your phone during ecams and trying to take pics of him (ii) you were wrong for 'jacking' his shirt around his neck (iii) you were wrong for threatening to deal with him if he stops you from taking the exam.

You play the victim in your narrative, but did not say that you have been caught for exam malpractice in the same school three times. You were suspended for one year after the incident with Mr Adams, you came back to school after one year and was caught in malpractice again by Prof Agari. You were expelled after that. You didn't say all these. You see its easy to try to get peoples sympathy by signing a petition but it really doesn't change the fact that the disciplinary committee has record of your misconducts in the school.

To say the least, the lecturer was wrong to have flogged you, but the fact that you have faced disciplinary committee more than once isn't a good record.

I am happy with this development. All these lecturers who feel they are demi gods and ought to be feared by students should have another think coming.

The so-called lecturer is not fit to be a primary school teacher, not to talk of a university lecturer.

It doesn't take a genius to know that the lecturer is lying through his teeth. How could u bring out ur belt to scare a university student & it mistakenly touched her? He's just angry cos the young lady stood up to him.

He is surely a notorious lecturer
If you can actually read between the lines
Then you should appreciate how it goes around on campus.

Richy4:
That lecturer, If he wants to tell lies, he should be ready to tell better lies

How come he was contradicting himself......

<<<<<when they were arguing, Her phone fall and broke....

<<<<<.....she insulted my family, so i smashed the phone (now was she holding two phones that the first one falls and the second one got smashed or are we Talking about the same phone)

<<<<<.....I used the belt to scare her and the belt mistakenly touch her (oh God!!, who was he explaining this to, an infant?)

Me reading between the line

>>>>>I believe the girl must have said her family cannot afford blackberry phone( yes some girls got the razor sharp tongue)
>>>>>I believe she disobeyed the lecturer by refusing to leave the examination venue
>>>>> I believe the lecturer flogged her just to save face and his dignity in public which was not the way to go about it...
>>>>>I finally believed that the lecturer could not believe how the story spread like wildfire due to the power of media... and he is not ready for that kind of publicity... I Simply hope he is a good lecturer, and not replaceable....if not

Intelligent people can make inferences from the account of the two people. Both are not being truthful.
Kemi is that type of 'in your face' student who wont succumb to instructions. Good luck with where that takes her in life.
I agree with you but in law since that is where we are going a bad attitude is no crime but it is criminal to damage another person's property willfully and to threaten them with a belt.
I do not see any where in law where a person can be compelled to sign any document admitting their guilt so she is well within her rights to refuse to sign any form. This can be frustrating admittedly and that is why the lecturer should have shown wisdom. Frustration and anger can lead to misbehaviour and then we have two lunatics instead of one. He is even lucky he did not cross the wrong person who could have killed him or his child some people do not forgive
Clearly the young woman has a bad attitude but our lecturers have no accountability. Do you know that in top foreign universities students rate (mark ) lecturers and if they are constantly rated low they are removed from the classroom and confined to research if they offer value there otherwise they could be sacked. University students are adults and there is no basis for removing his belt .Clearly the university has not provided training or resources to deal with such a scenario e.g CCTV security guards back up personnel etc. There is no justification for getting into a shouting match with students.

These lecturer sef don't even know how to lie rather roping himself more. My question is simple;
1) Wetin e com find for chemistry exam hall wen na statistics e dey lecture?
2) what right does he have to disturb another lecturer's exam and did the chemistry lecturer gave him the go ahead?
3) where in nigeria institution a student will start insulting a lecture that he is wicked if he didn't caused it?
4) malpractice form when she no even enter the hall?
5) abi e dey eye d babe she no gree.

Also, that Dean should be questioned for failing womanhood.

In law it is not about balancing offences and cancelling them out.It is not a point scoring game.
The lecturer is not the complainant here so there is no basis to issue any reprimand against the young lady much as we may like or dislike her.The issue is to examine HER complaints within the framework of the law. She has made allegation of
criminal damage
Assault occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm
And sundry civil claims bordering on discrimination and harassment

All that the law is concerned now with is whether those claims have merit or not.

Did he damage her phone
Did he flog her with a belt

TheNews.NG: Sir, we can’t take the story down just like that, its against the ethics of balanced reporting, we need to speak to the two parties involved to ascertain that you are truely innocent. would you be willing to tell us your side of the story?

Very funny!

You've already published the girls side of the story WITHOUT speaking to him first.

I am an alumnus of Uniabuja and I remember that incident. I know that man and he is corrupt and heartless . I remember I had to write a 4-unit course all over again because of him. That was statistics 200 abd that was my only carry over in school and it was because Mr Adam deliberately fails students who do not bribe their way out of the course.
He is also arrogant, in fact almost all the maths, statistics and computer science lecturers acted like him.
He should not spared , his deeds have caught up with him.
