Singer Prince confirmed dead aged 57.

Prince has been declared dead at his mansion in Minneapolis.

Emergency responders were called to his house at 9.43am on Thursday, but it has since been confirmed that the singer has passed away. No details as to the cause of death have been released.

The singer, whose full name is Prince Rogers Nelson, recently suffered a medical emergency last week during a flight following a gig. His plane was forced to make an emergency landing, although fans were reassured the next day he was OK. He also recently cancelled two shows due to illness.

His spokespeople said he had been suffering with the flu.

Update:

TMZ now reports that the Carver County Sherriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances around Prince’s death, although there are no signs of foul play.
