Ephesians 4:8-10King James Version (KJV)

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

The psalmist wrote, "What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it tell of Your faithfulness?". Again, "For in death there is no remembrance of You; in sheol who will give You praise"?- (Psalms 30:9, 6:5).

These psalms are truly eye opener to discerning minds still wallowing in darkness of the true state of man after death. The psalmist thrown these questions to God but no answer is given (not that he was expecting one), because the answer is obvious- death simply mean death (absent of life)!

Hard saying? Not at all, if you'll simply accept the truth. Why did the psalmist asked all of these questions knowing fully well that when he die, he will go to heaven and praise God and sing His faithfulness? The fact is that he had a perfect understanding of his state as a dead man!

Paul asked a question, "...how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?", 1 CORINTHIANS 15:12. The people at the time correctly understood what death is and therefore rejected or scoffed at the thought of a resurrection when it was taught by the Apostles, hence, the reason why Paul asked them this question. This resurrection being talked of will happen at the coming of Jesus Christ, 1 CORINTHIANS 15:22-23. Again I ask, if supposedly the good people are living in heaven, who will be resurrected at the coming of Christ? Is the resurrection for the dead or the living? I bet you can never answer these salient questions correctly except you come to terms with the true state of the dead. It doesn't matter for how long you've learned the wrong thing, but willing to take correction now.

Finally, "The dead do not praise the LORD, nor do any who go down into silence"- PSALM 115:17. Silence (a state of inactivity; death) indeed! So OP, when Jesus died and rose, He rose from the death to life; and not from life to life!

Jesus was in hell all through see verses;

1. Ephesians 4:9 that Christ our Lord descended
into Hell after He offered His life on the
cross. “Now that He ascended, what is it, but
because He also descended first into the
lower parts of the earth?” Note here that Hell
is described as having “parts” that is the four
parts of Hell.

2. Saint Peter said in Acts 2:24 that “God hath
raised up Christ, having loosed the sorrows of
hell, as it was impossible that He should be
holden by it.” Christ loosed the Old
Testament saints from hell.

3. Saint Peter also wrote in 1 Peter 3:19 that
“Christ coming in spirit preached to those
spirits that were in prison, which had some
time been incredulous.” On this verse, Saint
Athanasius says that “Christ’s body was laid
in the sepulchre when He went to preach to
those spirits who were in bondage, as Peter
said.” (Ep. ad Epict.)

4. The prophet Hosea foretold the descent of
Christ into Hell in Hosea 13:14 by placing
these words into the mouth of the Messiah:
“O death, I will be thy death; O hell, I will be
thy bite.”

5. Zechariah foretells the redemption of those in
the Limbo of the Fathers in Zech 9:11: “Thou
also by the blood of Thy Testament hast sent
forth Thy prisoners out of the pit.” What
could this mean except that the Messiah
would free people from the underworld?

6. Colossians 2:15: “Despoiling the
principalities and powers, He hath exposed
them confidently.” This refers to Christ’s
victory over the condemned angels who are
the demons of Hell.

7. Psalm 23:7: “Lift up your gates, O ye
princes,” which the medieval Gloss
interprets: “that is–Ye princes of hell, take
away your power, whereby hitherto you held
men fast in hell”.

8. In Ecclesiasticus 24:45, Siracides prophecied:
“I will penetrate to all the lower parts of the
earth.”

Jesus was simply dead for 3 days, and was resurrected.

take a look at acts 2:25 - 36 (KJV)

25 For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

hell as used here simply means grave, so Jesus did not go to hell to collect any key, as nothing abt such was discussed in that context. however, when he died, he went to hell or dust, or grave which is where humans go to after death (Genesis 3:19)... but God had resurrect him after 3 days. then he put on a spirit body,no longer physical.

Eccl 3:18-20

I also said in my heart about the sons of men that the true God will test them and show them that they are like animals, 19 for there is an outcome for humans and an outcome for animals; they all have the same outcome. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit. So man has no superiority over animals, for everything is futile. 20 All are going to the same place. They all come from the dust, and they all are returning to the dust.

Do not get confused. he went to hell. but hell is not a place of firery torment, it is simply the common grave of mankind.
even God's faithful servant Job in the bible prayed to go to hell (job 14:13). meaning. he wished to die n goto the grave due to his predicament.

so understand the fact that hell mean grave!

Hell is real place of torment

even Jesus said so

Mark 9:43

43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.

Matthew 13:42

42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 25:41

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
John 5:29
29and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
John 15:6
6If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

Mark 9:43-48
43If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched
44Where “their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”
45And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched
46Where “their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”
47And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire
48Where “their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”

don't know where to stand

Don.t mind him, hell simply means grave.

The only person who did not go there is Elijah and Enoach. Even Jesus have also been there before, so ask that man, does it means that Jesus was also tormented with fire And let hear what he will say.

Let me see if i could answer your question.

When Jesus died, he went strait to Hell and after that he went strait to Abraham bosom which is paradise and Jesus said, Abraham were happy to see me and they see me and were glad. the question is when did Abraham see him and were glad? Even the pharisees wanted to stone him for that.... They said ur not unto 60 and you saw Abraham

Do you also remember what he told one of the thief on the cross.

Today you will be with me in paradise.

Which means he took the thief to Abraham bosom. So Abraham bosom is the paradise where he finally went to before his resuration.

Hope i have been able to answered your question?
