The issue of mote is a serious one...the guy was not supposed to b on campus..he did mo gbo mo ya..anywhere in d world, that's a serious crime..he protested against something he had no right to...even a court will convict d guy...secondly, he disrupted school peace...that's something m always against ..some claim that d protest worked, protests don't work ..they only produce temporary solutions , especially when u are attacking d wrong people.. students protest against poor hostel conditions when they know that d fg has reduced d allocation to Ui...it doesn't take a genius to tell u that Ui , and in deed all parts of Nigeria that once enjoyed light, can no longer...d economy is bad....let me also mention d aluta issue...students go all haywire when d student leaders talk of fighting d Vc...I pity u...d vc will never lose anything but u may end up losing your life, education, be raped, injured, pay for damages...d function of sug is not to fight d Vc...note that... the student politicians also steal funds yet nothing happens...they use your protests as a pedestal to gain popularity..I say y did note want to contest for Indy ag?...don't u perceive political opportunism?...

1) mote may still get his punishment and d highest d students can do is to make Ui closed for years
2) even if not expelled , hez cert is now valueless...everybody now knows him as d guy who caused d unrest in Ui...no organisation wants such

I encourage students to go into politics, principally to gain political skills that will help them in realpolitiks. The ultimate Goal of any student getting into politics in Universities should be getting connected strategically, honing skills of oratory, and knowing how to organise.

It is not in your interest to protest on issues that cannot be resolved realistically without causing pain to the people you claim to represent. The problem is most Students dont think about implications, they just demand unrealistically.

Take the issue of Student Hostels, they are in an appalling state in the UI. Very terrible state if i may add. We all know the Solution is to Improve the state of the Hostels, but the Solutions will come at a cost, which is beyond the Financial CAPACITY of the School, the alternative is to Raise Funds by either privatising the Hostels, or by Increasing the School fees.

If You privatise the hostels, Hostel accommodation fees will increase from the Paltry sum you pay to something in the range of 80-100 K. Are you ready to pay that?...If you are not ready to pay that, where do you want the school to get the money from?...You cannot eat your cake and have it at the same time.

It will be surprising If Babcock University students Protest about the State of their Hostels, But it is totally Stupid of Students in Government Universities to Protest about things that cant be done without them paying for it.

Dont get carried away. Think before you Protest.
