AFW promotes the beauty of Africa, from the creative side of fashion to the business of it (AFWL) while also discovering young new exciting brands and providing them with a platform to build and promote them to an international standard (AFWL). So the choice of making Yemi Alade its ambassador came as no surprise to me. Even her nickname is Mama Africa When asked, Ronke Ademiluyi founder of AFW she had this to say about the choice to make Yemi her brand ambassador “This year, we chose someone who embodies the true African woman. A strong intellectual and musically inclined woman; her music music reflects what’s good, whats great and whats best about the motherland. we couldn’t have chosen anyone more suitable to be our ambassador”. AFWN will be celebrating its 3rd anniversary with yet another fashion exhibition and showcase show from 1st July to the 3rd of July, 2016 with a of upcoming and established designers. There would be five (5) different shows, brand new designers that will showcase for the first time as well as more designers will have the opportunity to break into the industry and gain a bigger platform.
