Ok, so in freshman year, we were supposed to get the new biometric ID card, and we were to provide our Blood Group among other informations.

Na so I go one reputable hospital here in Enugu for Medical Test. They took my blood and told me to come back the next day for the result. Came back the next day for result and was told I was O+.

Fast forward, 5 years later in 500 level. I had a little medical issue and I had to run a couple of tests of which blood grouping was part of. Surprisingly, my Blood Group had "Changed" to A+. I had to run the test at 2 other different Labs, all came up with A+.

Meanwhile, on my School ID Card, it says O+.

Imagine a situation, maybe an accident, of which i might require a blood transfusion, and then they take a look at the ID Card, and conclude my GRP was O+.

Na so person go just take die

It may be false positive result due to expired blood group anti Sera or due to temperature......WHO standard is that a blood group of an individual is said to be true if two or three out of three labs have the same result.......

The worst experience i ever had was when my brother whom was diagnosed of intramedullary sponal tumor was set to have a surgery and during the whole bookings and all, his blood sample was taken to determine his blood group which was said to be (B-), a rare blood group... I was told to get 3 people to donate a pint of blood each so as to replenish the blood to be given by the blood bank....i was practically held at ransome (because i was told they wont process the blood if we dont donate)...we donated the blood, only to be told there were no (B-) blood group and i need to go buy blood (this was a day to surgery ooo) i bought the blood and went back to the blood bank for processing...then i was told i have to pay for the processing and they dont even think they can collect the blood i brought from an external lab I wouldnt have gotten angry if not for the lab attendant's complete insolence (he said is it his fault that everything is like that?).......i ended up not paying anything for processing after i finished talking sense into his head...it was his supervisor that came to intervene!

not lab attendant but med lab scientist or technician.....lab attendants don't work in hospital pls....

I se your point, if truely you were - and your hubby should be + your chances of your baby having erythroblastocis foetalis is sure,, well dont blame the scientist for wrong result in rhesus d test, most time it happens as a result of rhesus d antigen which doesnt show properly due to a switch of amino acid in the transmembrane of the rhesus d protein

are u a med lab scientist?

Sorry about your loss. That's so sad. Losing two parents to misdiagnosis. In a civilized climate, that's a malpractice lawsuit but there is no repercussion for that carelessness in Nigeria.

Oh common!

You actually believe that?

That was how when I had a serious eye injury(glass entered my eye), one yeye doctor in a private hospital was injecting me with Malaria/Typhoid drip. My father almost killed that man. Was later transferred to a teaching hospital where they performed the operation without anaesthetic to remove the glass. Lost the eye though. I was five then. It's well.

If you want to read the full story of a medical doctor's inhumanity to man, then kindly read this:
https://www.nairaland.com/2676024/how-st.nicholas-hospital-doctors-killed

My husband called me at about 6:40 AM, Friday the 21st of November 2014, from work. He asked me to come and pick him up, that he was not feeling too good. I left with the driver to get him. When I got there, he was too uncomfortable, and he asked me to take him home. But on our way home, I noticed that he was in pains, so I asked the driver to reverse the car and head instead to the hospital (St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos).
On reaching there, we met Judith, the receptionist. I asked if there was a Doctor around. This was around 7 PM. She said yes and after some time we were asked to go into Room 2. Right there we met a young Doctor called Dr. Ogidigben Kevwe. He asked a few questions that I answered while my husband was wallowing in pains. He (Kevwe) opened an emergency file because according to him, my husband’s file was locked up in Dr. Bamgboye’s office, and no one has access to that office. I told Dr. Kevwe that my husband had incisional hernia surgery done a few months back at the same hospital, August to be precise and it was performed by one Dr. Mohan an India man, and Dr. Balogun at St. Nicholas Hospital. He started to examine him. He then left us in his office and said he was coming back.

He came back after some minutes and said he was trying to reach Dr. Balogun from the reception, but he is not getting through. So I used my husband’s phone and dialed Balogun and got through. At this point, I gave the phone to Dr. Kevwe, and he started explaining to Dr. Balogun, what he thought was the problem. Balogun on the other end asked if my husband was in pains, and Kevwe said yes. Dr. Kevwe told Dr. Balogun that he was suspecting intestinal obstruction. Dr. Balogun asked if there was any swelling around where the incision was done, but Dr.Kevwe said no. Balogun asked if there was any reddish sign around the same area, and Kevwe said no. So Dr. Kevwe suggested giving him antibiotics, but Balogun said that they have to be careful what they give him, since he is a post kidney transplant patient.

Balogun asked them to give him a particular injection twice to ease the pains, and he said that they should observe him till the next morning. So I left to go get him what he had asked for (his tea and his stockings). On my way around Bonny Camp, I got a call from a strange number, when I picked up; it was Dr. Kevwe, on the other end. He asked me to turn back to come pick up my husband, and I asked why?

He (Kevwe) said that my Husband is feeling much better, and wants to go home. I asked the driver to reverse and head back to the hospital. And on getting there, I went in and asked the Dr. again why he wants me to take him home. He repeated once again that he feels much better and I asked Kevwe if he was asking me to take him home because he thinks he feels better or that the hospital doesn’t have a bed for him. I asked this because the nurse had mentioned earlier that she needed to check for bed space.

Kevwe at this point told me that my Husband would be fine, he asked me to take my Husband home and bring him the following morning. Meanwhile, before then, Kewe wrote a prescription of drugs for my husband which I took to the pharmacist and when the lady there saw it, she asked which Dr. I saw. I told her that it was Dr. Kewe. She moved over to the other side and called the Dr’s office. They both argued about the drug that he wrote, she then gave me just1 tablet of Exforge. When my husband got up from the hospital bed, he staggered and I held him and asked if he’s fine. The Dr. said that it’s the injection that was given to him that he would be fine. So I took him home.

We got home. And just about 15minutes after, my husband said he felt like throwing up. I brought a bowl to him, and he vomited, and he felt a bit better. He slept for some time and got up in excruciating pain... .

If Dr. Kevwe knew exactly what he was doing that morning without taking instructions from Dr. Fadiran on the phone, with an emergency case right in front of him, my husband would have been here. My husband died of total negligence on the part of St. Nicholas Hospital, and I know it. Like I said earlier, the doctor was 2 hours plus late with the suction, because, at this time, the nurse was already calling my husband’s name, shouting “Mr. Charles, Mr. Charles!” He was given four adrenaline injections. The drip wasn’t going at all, all this while lest I forget. I watched my husband struggled to breath. I watched him fight for his life, and I was right there when he died. And even though they were busy with CPR, I knew when he passed on because immediately he stopped struggling, fluid started gushing out of his mouth and nose, I knew that was it. That was the same fluid that was choking him. If there were a senior consultant or surgeon at the hospital as at when I brought him, he probably, would have been helped. In between all this, Dr. Kevwe at a time said to Dr. Fadiran on the phone that he should come now as the patient is in a critical condition. He said to the same Dr. Fadiran that 11 O’clock might be too
late. I brought my husband at about 6 AM to St. Nicholas Hospital and he died at about 9.30AM without receiving prompt and adequate care.

Human life cannot continue to be lost soo cheaply in Nigerian Hospital, people must be made to account for their actions as professionals hence I have contacted my Lawyers to investigate the cause of death as he has died with our dreams, aspirations, and vision and planned future together.

I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR BY GOD’S GRACE THANK GOD FOR BELL LIFESTYLE PRODUCTS.

DR. REMIGIUS NKEM ASHUKE (Medical Practitioner) LAGOS, NIGERIA

It all started about February 2012 and the first symptoms I started experiencing were non-productive cough and chest pain. I consulted with consultant physicians and ENT surgeons at different hospitals and I was subjected to diverse laboratory investigations, all to no avail. I took several X-rays of the chest and did CT scan of both the chest and the neck. TB tests (acid fast bacill and gene expert), echocardiogram, FNAC (fine needle aspirate cytology) and so on, without anyone being able to make any impression that could suggest what was wrong with me. The cancer had already metastasized to other parts of my body while those investigations were being done.
On 20th June 2013, I was rushed to LASUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) medical emergency on account of severe breathlessness at abot 7am. I was given emergency medications to relieve the breathlessness and from my arrival here, I began to make use of artificial oxygen which I was on for one full month, while I was being investigated by different medical teams. Within that period, I was placed on anti-TB drugs following a mentuex test that was carried out on me, which came out positive within durations of 16 minutes.
It was when I was taken to theatre for bronchoscopy and mediasthnoscopy that the cardio-thoracid team discovered the massive metastatic tumor that had obstructed my trachea at the lower third of the trachea. I was then referred to EKO hospital Ikeja for radiotherapy, I had seven courses of radiotherapy at the hospital and I had six courses of chemotherapy at LASUTH. There was a time my platelet count dropped to one (1) and I was losing blood through my nostrils, mouth and I was urinating frank red blood. It was while I was receiving chemotherapy that a doctor friend of mine (Dr. Emmanuel Nsofor) brought Bell Supreme Immune Booster and Japanese Green Tea to me and I began to use them. It was from that moment that I stopped breaking down after every course of chemotherapy and I began to feel strong within in spite of my wasted exterior.
Having realized the efficacy of Bell Products, I started using Curcumin 2000X as well.

Apart from strengthening my immunity and helping me to recover from CANCER OF THE LUNGS. I have not been sick since one year ago that I started using the products inspite of the fact that I used to suffer so often from malaria before my contact with Bell Products. I sincerely thank God Who made it possible for DR THEO ANUCHA MD/CEO of Bell Lifestyle to bring the products to Nigeria.

TESTIMONY OF NATUROPATH
I am Roman Deguenon, Staff of BCEAO Bank, I was suffering from pain on my back at the vertebra since more than 10 years. It was paining me extremely and when I started I must suffer through for many hours. I went from Clinic to clinic, from doctor to doctor in vain. The pain was becoming atrocious and unbearable. Finally, I was obliged to adopt the bet lambo abdominal. I couldn’t seat down for long time neither stand up for long time. I was convicted to do movement only with car.

Then one day, somebody directed me to centre of Naturopath –NGO BT- I went there and the miracle was done for me. The manager of the centre prescribed 2 BOTTLE OF SHARK CARTILAGE and before I finished the first bottle, I felt that my pains disappeared. When I finished 2 bottles, I did not feel anything again. Nowadays I don’t feel pain again at the point that I can use machine for my movement something that I coulddn’t imagine in the past few months. Bell Shark Cartilage really saved me from pains. Many patients got relief by using Bell Shark Cartilage and we received multitude of testimonies for it.
As a Manager of the centre of natural health, I think in my own opinion that Bell Shark Cartilage is the best food supplements because of several positive results (and sometimes spectacular) we get from patients after their use.

MY TESTIMONY ON PROSTRATE ENLARGEMENT

I had been suffering from prostrate enlargement for long without being aware of the sickness itself until it was diagnosed after PSA test in November 2010. I started treatment at the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi (NAUTH) almost immediately. I was with catheta in December 2010. The whole experience was the most unpalatable. The discomfort and pain were enormous.
I was being prepared for prostrate surgery but it was delayed by the medical team after discovering that I had undergone six hernia operations. The professor in charge of Urology advised that at my age (64 years) I would not survive the rigours of an open prostrate surgery. He rather advised that I should go for an un-open surgery overseas. Later I was advised that I should go toAbujawhere facilities had been provided for such un-open surgery.
So in October 2012, I relocated to Abuja found the hospital and paid initial medical bill of N800,000.00 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) only. I was asked to pay the balance of N750,000.00 (Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) only. Before operation will be carried out, I was given date of Saturday, 24 November, 2012.
While preparing for the un-open surgery and still arranging to pay the balance of the medical bill, I got a copy of BELL CHRONIC DISEASE RELIEF CATALOG OF JUNE 2011 on Monday 19th November, 2012 from a neigbour who requested me to see the section on prostrate. I did. My curiosity was raised when I read where it started “IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING SURGERY, TRY THIS FIRST”. I took the challenge, asked and paid for the tea on Monday, 19th November 2012. By Tuesday, I had started taking the tea. I continued on Wednesday and byThursday, 22 November 2012, I had regained so much relief that I had to go to the hospital where I was awaiting un-open surgery by Saturday and requested the Doctor to remove my Catheter. He first tried to discourage me but my insistent he removed the catheter and from that day till today, I have been completely healed of my prostrate enlargement. Thank to Almighty God and thanks to the Bell Life style Products Inc. I have also spread the gospel to everyone that comes my way. Dr. Dan Nwogbo (08035993222) Federal Housing Estate, Lugbe,Abuja,Nigeria.

\PROSTRATE PROBLEM GONE

I, Engineer Okorongu Felix, a Project Manager in a Construction Company wish to testify that on my sick bed I developed prostrate which UNTH Enugu Surgery Department booked me for surgery. On the appointed day I could not see the doctor, then I attended their appointment the second day to hear that the hospital was on strike. When I was contemplating on what to do either to go to a hospital or something else, a friend who is a lecturer in a University brought to me a dose of Bell products for prostrate (Prostrate Tea, Supreme Immune Booster, Longevity in Good Health and Bladder and Yeast) I hesitated to take them but later did. To my utmost surprise the prostrate was gone and the catheter the tube inserted in me to urinate was removed after four days. I have since then recommended this treatment to many of my friends who are singing the same success song. I thank God and Bell Lifestyle.BELLLIFESTYLE IS THE BEST INDEED. ENGINEER FELIX OKORONGU (08037420705)

LEUKAMIA CANCER CELLS DISAPPEARED BY ELDER UDOSEN OKON MARCUS.

A 17-year old boy was diagnosed and conformed of having leukemia cancer by a team of Doctors in a teaching hospital. After several dialysis and chemo-therapies there was no improvement. The parents were asked to source for about fourteen million naira for the boy’s overseas treatment, believing to be the last solution.
Glory be to God and thanks to Doctor Theo Anucha who brought Bell Lifestyle products to Nigeria through which a staff nurse in one of the hospitals inEnugu, also a distributor of Bell Lifestyle products who got to know the family of the parents and told them of Bell Lifestyle products.
The mother of the boy reluctantly agreed to the staff nurse’s suggestion to visit Bell shop no 58Enugufor more clarifications. The mother came to the shop with the boy, after discussing with the mother, Bell Acidic Stomach/Alkaline Balance, Supreme Immune Booster, Co-Q10, Curcumin 2000X, and a few other products were prescribed for a start. Two weeks after, the mother came for the second purchase of the products with a smile on her face, which showed that the boy was responding to treatment. To the surprise of everybody, after ten weeks the young boy came to the shop by himself jumping and jubilating with songs of praise to God for victory over his health challenges. He said that he went back to the hospital for a routine check-up, a repeat diagnoses was carried out on him of the Doctors no cancer cells were found. When asked how he feels, he said happily that he was fine.
Currently, he is taking Bell Supreme Immune Booster only as maintenance dose. I want to say here that it is all about God who has kept solutions in nature and enabledBellto tap from those resources for the benefit of humanity. It is also aboutBellwho maintained their integrity and standard in all their products.

hydeka:
Errors occur in the medical practice. Some can be fatal while others are mild.
These errors could come from a doctor, a pharmacist, nurse lab scientist etc. They come in different forms such as a wrong diagnosis by a doctor leading to wrong prescription, it could also come in form of wrong dispensing by the pharmacist, a wrong lab test result or a wrong drug/dose administration by a nurse.
Statistics show that these mistakes are rampant.

Have you or any of your friend or relative ever being a victim of any medical error? Feel free to share.

Note: this thread is not aimed at bashing health professionals. Remember that they are also human and the stress of the profession contribute largely to these errors.
The aim of this thread is to note the pattern of these errors in order to propose ways to minimised them.

Let the discussion begin...

Yes!

I was sick then and I decided to use my HMO.. Went to hospital and was treated for Malaria... Still sick and was treated for Malaria again using injections and then I went there again that I wasn't getting any better and I was told I have mild depression...

I was like ha! Ewo ni mild depression They gave Mr some medications in the anti depressants range and it made matters worse and was adviced to see a psychiatrist and at that point, I now agreed with my wife to follow her to Gbagada general hospital as she has been saying... On getting there, I was asked to do a test same one I did at the previous hospital and from their own result, they said its just vitamin deficiency and gave me B Co to use twice morning and evening... After like two days, I was feeling life and getting better and I was like alas!

On going back to the precious hospital to ask questions they said their own test won't show those statistics that was shown in general hospital cos I am not a walk in patient... That as HMO patient, that was the directive they got.

I queried the HMO and they got nothing to say... I called the doc (cos he is a friend) that he should give me a lost of HMO that he trusts and my HMO is even in top three and then confided in me that do u know a certain HMO instructed us not to give antibiotics to kids for cough?

It was then that I had to think twice... Where are we going in this nation? HMO is a scam and its the real blame here... No wonder general hospitals ain't included on their list.

So, I now watch what I eat, installed mosquito net in all rooms, and this mortein continuous flit - don't know the name (NaturGard Insect Control System).. Cos I don't wanna have any reason to face hospital HMO.

Sorry for quoting ur old post, I just learnt sth great from your write up

So, I now watch what I eat, installed mosquito net in all rooms, and this mortein continuous flit - don't know the name (NaturGard Insect Control System).. Cos I don't wanna have any reason to face hospital HMO.
