Ever wonder why your bank account is never as full as you’d like it to be? If you’re not buying big expensive things, taking exotic vacations, or dining at using cocaine, it could be because you’ve picked up a few bad habits that are costing you money. Here are 9 behaviour patterns you should avoid if you’re trying to save cash.

1.Sports Betting: Many people especially of the male gender are football club supporters, with ardent following and commitment especially in Nigeria. It has transcended just supporting the football clubs though because the new wave is actually trying to cash out from the habit of supporting the clubs so they play it on a regular with the hope that they will eventually cash out at some point. You can and up spending from 500 to 2000 every month or even more depending on how frequently you bet.[img][/img]

2. Yellow Cabs:
“Cab man Cab man Cab man them boys up to something” You can never take as short walk even if where you are going somewhere that less than 2 kilometres. While I’m not saying you should not enter cabs at all you cant take bikes or buses sometimes while you save to buy a car. If you time it right BRTs are quite comfortable in Lagos and would get you from Point A to Point. A cab from Lekki to Ikeja could for as much as 5000, But depending on your bargaining power.[img][/img]
3. Clubbing: A bottle of Hennessey goes for as much as 35,000 is some clubs to at least 15 to 20,000 in lesser profile clubs but it goes for 5,000 at street price. Imagine having this as a regular habit every Friday! The lowest thing you probably buy in a club is a pack of cigarette which goes for 500 or 1000 in some clubs .[img][/img]
4.Skipping The Gym: Gym registration costs in Lagos vary from 5,000 to 10,000 depending on the gym and location. It is actually more expensive in other areas but that isn’t the issue, skipping the gym is. About 3,000 to 7,000 of these registration fees will most likely go to waste due to underutilization.[img][/img]

5. Hitting The ATM: While it’s always good to have extra cash in your wallet, minor ATM fees add up over time. Sometimes we tend to grow the habit of being overly dependent on the ATM even when we should hold back and watch them 65 Naira keep racking up till we averaging like 3000 per month or cumulative atm charges.
6. Buying Exclusive Big Brands: While brand recognition is reassuring, many generic food products, medicines, and household products are just as good as their fancily packaged counterparts. They’re way cheaper, too.
7. Smoking : A pack of cigarette goes for 200 to 250 Naira at street price and way more expensive in club or bourgeois settings. A regular smoker would most likely consume from a pack to four packs everyday and could spend as much as 2,500 per week or way more just on burning cigarettes.
