Can u compare ghana's admission seekers population to nigeria. undecided too much competition here, the system has to be strategic.
Though ur right at the latter part of your comment.

You must put it in perspective.. The number of institutions of higher learning in Ghana is not up to what we have in Nigeria.. But the quality of these instructions is top and their facilities are well maintained.

Also in Ghana they don't put too much emphasis on University Education as the criteria for a Ghanaian to gain admission into top schools are really steep and only a handful make it in.

We do not need JAMB.. If a Student makes the grade cut off, let him gain admission. If he fails in the university, kick the student out..

and i bet this will make d chance of gaining admission slimmer...
You are right.
If you scored 220 this year and you didn't get admission, the chances of getting admission to that same school becomes slimmer.

Good but this isn't enough. Another bill should be passed to make provisions for at least 2 "UTME"s in a year. Its frustrating that one has to wait a whole year for another chance if u don't get a good score d previous attempt or for some unfortunate reason couldn't make it for the exam.
when the bill is passed there wouldnt be any need to do it twice in a year.

If the bill passes, does it mean those people that wrote jamb this year will have a valid result for 3 years? Or will it apply from next year only. As in those that will start writing next year?

So if i want to study medicine and I score 200 for jamb and medicine cut off is 200. You mean i cnt go back to write jamb again? I have to be writing post ume till God gives me medicine with 200 jamb scores?

Or i can decide to dump the result and apply for new jamb test if am not okay with what i scored previously?

Simple there will be an option to write jamb again if you wish but the new score will be the valid one and will nullify the old score.

Simple as you've said in the 2nd paragraph. You'll have the option to write it again but the new score will now be the valid one and will nullify the old score of 200

This is a commendable move by the Senate.
IamChuzzy:
A bill which if passed will extend the validity of results from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB, to three years from the one year it presently stands on, passed second reading in the senate yesterday June 1st. The bill is being sponsored by Senator Joshua Lidani from Gombe.

During the deliberations on the bill, Senator Sam Egwu said he supports the bill but that the extension of the JAMB results to three years will cause more confusion as most of the Universities, particularly the government owned schools, have limited space.

Senate President Bukola Saraki spoke in favor of the bill. The senators later voted in support of the bill and then forwarded it to the senate tertiary education and TET Fund committee for further legislative input.

Why is it that in Ghana, a student writes WAEC and gains admission into the University based on just his aggregate scores, but in Nigeria, same student will write WAEC, NECO, GCE and patch all 3 together to complete result than go and write JAMB and then write Post-UME just to gain admission into our rundown and useless Universities like UNIBEN, University of Ibadan, Nnamdi Azikiwe University and IMSU. angry

because they are all offices being created. Nothing more

I love the northerners sometimes sha... cos they seem to do more things to favour their people.

How come it's a northerner sponsoring this bill? When most of them don't even go to school?

Where are our southern senators? After all its a known fact that it's we (southerners) that are more interested in education And which bills are they currently promoting/sponsoring on the floor?

Need to do some investigations on this sha.

In my opinion 3years is too long.. 2 years is ok.

To my bros in the east championing IVM pls try to get ur reps and senators to put together a sort of Local content bill making it compulsory for FG to patronise locally made goods when making wholesale purchases.(maybe @ 30%minimum local content)
I.e vehicles, furnitures, gadgets etc for official use.

It could even start @ the state level via state house of reps.

The only good thing the ole senators has done that touches the masses other bills has been for their selfish end.

apparently you don't understand my point. It is for reasons like what u just mentioned that i said there should be at least 2 exams in a year. With this, ur bro will have another opportunity in a few months instead of waiting a whole year to do it again

Really? How will this bill be beneficial to those that couldn't write the exam due to unforseen circumstances or those that need better grades to get into their preferred courses?
