Don't they also want all corruption charges against ND politicians who stole money to be dropped?

The problem of the Niger Delta is found in their own house. These states get 13% derivation from crude oil sales. Before you say that is not enough, just look at the infrastructure that has been developed by Akwa Ibom (good roads everywhere, world-class hospital and stadium) and Cross River states (Tinapa, Obudu, etc). You'll rarely hear of militant/criminal activities in these two states

Ok lets look at Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa states where militancy is concentrated. These states are the highest beneficiaries from the 13% derivation rule, collecting trillions of Naira since it was implemented. Do you hear of life-changing infrastructure being built with the money? No. What we hear is Alamesigha dressed as a woman to escape bail from UK, Peter Odili granted perpetual injunction against arrest, James Ibori in jail in UK for money laundering (forfeiting hundreds of millions of pounds meant to develop his state to the UK that does not even need the money), etc. Furthermore, their own son was president for six years and he could not implement a single project in his entire geographical zone not to talk of his state belente his own village.

Yet, criminals from these particular three states (Delta being the main one), continue to blame 'lack of federalism' while asking for corruption charges to be dropped against people who stole money that is enough to turn the ND into a paradise. Akwa Ibom and Cross River are leaving you people behind and I don't see the same 'lack of federalism' holding them back. SMH.

If you give Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa their own country, their leaders will loot their own people dry and they'll still blame the poor Hausa man in Bauchi who's farming onions. People in the ND need to hold their leaders accountable while also looking in the mirror.

U talk like a child! Their demands are okay..one thing I hate about we Nigerians is that we hide truth a lot. Why not go ahead with these projects in that region? What is so difficult in taking up strategic projects in that region by FG? Why can't that region b made the commercial city of the country? Why Lagos?

U want to shoot at anythinh Biafra? U are really kidding me! Is it wrong to want to divorce ur partner? Why can't Nigeria call these guys and agree a referendum? Hey, even Britain who brought this mess on us doesn't run her country like the way they structured ours! What is so hard to understand that Biafra has right to want to quit the union? For nature's sake this ppl feel they can do better if allowed to be on their own, why not allow them go and allow those who wants to join Nigeria to do so at their own will and these whole mess will end? Shooting Biafra can't stop Biafra , if not, the Biafra thing wouldn't av started again after their people died in their million. Think wise bro and wake up from sentiment. In a sane society, na u and I go go street and press our govt to give room for referendum for these guys...Nigeria has never worked and may never work

Their demands make sense but too plenty.

Brother that is what should have been done from the beginning. The north owns 80 percent oil blocks in Niger Delta. Sheer you see oppression in another person's backyard. Equity and justice must be done. These guys are fighting a just fight, not a sensless demand for soverign state for religious purposes. Ogoni land cleansing will take 30 years. Can u imagine that.

U av made no point ...whatsoever u are saying, u are saying it out of hatred bro...is it militants that told ur Nigerian govt not to diversify her economy for decades? Did militants force ur federal govt to earn so much and from the military era till date without a functioning refinary ? U know the truth! Those guys are holding this country down becus the govt has failed...other countries used their oil generated revenue to build world class hospitals, excellent universities that attracts foreigners (which makes money for the host country), they build world class research centres, they develop world class mega cities...industries etc...Nigerian govt from era of military till date couldn't do anything worth clapping for and u are here talking against militants! They want 60% of the oil block...this is not a bad demand bro...

If they want to be earning salary from oil wealth, it is still not a bad idea bro...if Nigeria is a sane country, we would av diversified our economy long ago and by now, we would av gotten many sources of revenue generation plus enough to pay oil producing communities.
They want certain national projects to be situated in their region...my brother, na hatred they worry, that is jot a bad demand...build those projects in their region. In fact, appreciate that region for helping this country remain united becus if not for the oil found in that region, forget unity..why not build the university for them? The communities are the ones suffering from the effect of oil exploration and u still want to deny them of major national projects ? It is not fair. Nigeria is full of hate, if not, national govt would av been building most of these projects there and help transform that region into a mega city commercial hub of the country.

Hmmm

There will always be sporadic, violent eruptions in the ND, until the injustices against the people are extensively and adequately address. The people have been short-changed for so long and they can no longer bear it.

From poor infrastructures, biting unemployment, little or no FG presence, unending environmental pollution, uneven representation in the FG and it's agencies to illegal allocation of their oil blocks to appease political power house and party cronies

The lopsided allocation of oil blocks during the military era and 1999 - 2007 should be revisited and justly addressed.

It goes beyond temporarily silencing agitators with stipends or surveillance contracts.

Their grievances should be attended to with utmost urgency, sincerity and renewed enthusiasm.

Pls try to be knowledgeable b4 commenting on a sensitive topic like this. Do u knw how much there allocation in the ND region is? Do u knw that bayelsa, Delta etc collect more allocation than lagos state? Let even put that aside, all those companies there (foreign coy) do u have an idea of how much dey pay to local communities in term of royalties & CSR? See check an average ijaw man, they are lazy and yet like free fund. Their leaders are equally thiefs. If u go to bayelsa today... no meaningful development in a state that receive that much frm d fgn.

Those militants, if their demands are at all met, must take responsibility for cleaning up the oil spills which they caused by blowing up pipelines. It's not the government that would do the clean up of the environment for them.

Pls..forget talk...allow people who wants to stay wit Nigeria to stay wit Nigeria...and allow those who wants to leave to leave...thru referendum....British govt is doing one referendum now...blacks can not always be like mumu all the time...allow the public decide..this militant nonsense will never stop...that is the truth..we will continue to be lazy as w country...no light...no school, no hospital...failed system of govt...u sef know that naija don fail...nothing works here...I blame everyone...including Jonathan....don't think im one of those who close my eyes on GEJ too. This same "moronic" party comprises 70% of your acclaimed saint party. 70% means the majority of your party members are "moronic" so nothing good will eventually come out of them.

"Fashola will deliver" sounds more like a campaign promise. Look around you, campaigns are over. Its no longer the season of "will" "will" it's now the season on "I am" or "we are" and don't forget many zombees are getting their brains back because hunger is wiping their senses clean already.

I am not from the ND neither are my igbo but I will always speak the truth but why are you even crying more that the bereaved? It is their land and back yard not yours. If they choose to destroy it, don't self-service yourself to death. Please develop your own.

God put the "Oyel" in their back ground for them to enjoy it not suffer over it. God has already favoured them over your region. The least you can do is thank and be grateful to the region that feeds you and your entire generation. Berger, gratitude is is the key.

Then what? Maybe we should expect to see the undertakers, Fantastic fighters etc.

This is fast becoming a drama series. If I am in government, I will suggest we treat these guys as criminals and descend on them heavily. Otherwise, they will keep coming and get bolder. Don't make the same mistake you made with Book Haram and other Niger Delta militant fighters who became rich overnight at the expense of the government, Niger Delta people and society.
