I have observed in amazement how scholarship and leadership in deen issues is gradually fading in the north and rising in the south and middle belt. It's quite refreshing to see scholars from the south (west in particular) and middle belt exude so much schorlarship while talking about the deen. One wonders is this the 'Sunna of Allah' taking its course.

Once upon a time in the early years of Islam the Arabs once held the baton of leadership and knowledge in this umma, they also became complacent and distracted by worldly things, and were thus disrobed of this privilege which Allah handed to the 'mamluk' sultans of Egypt (originally slave soldiers of Turkic, circassian, and Georgian origins). Then they also engaged in the vanities of those before them and stewardship of the umma passed to the Turko-Mongol ottomans.

May Allah bring back the izzah of this ummah
