The Executive Secretary of the National Universities
Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, on Friday quit after 10
years in office, but said he would not miss his position.
He, however, expressed his willingness to consult for the
commission in future.

His Deputy, Prof. Chinedu Mafiana, will therefore assume
the position of the acting Executive Secretary.
Addressing the staff of the NUC from Abuja and Lagos, he
advised his successor to be courageous in the
performance of his responsibilities.

“I will not miss my position at the NUC, but I will miss my
staff,” Okojie said.
He advised the NUC members of staff to submit
themselves to mentorship and training, saying they were
the only paths to success.

A former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education,
Mark-John Nwabiala, described Okojie as “a distinguished
Nigerian, with a pure heart and a character worthy of
emulation.”

Okojie, however, received awards of Excellence Service
and the Kwame Nkrumah Excellence Leadership Award
from the representatives of the West African Students
Union.

The awards were in recognition of his initiatives, including
open door policy.
Among the few achievements of Okojie include the
establishment of the Nigerian Research and Education
Network; inclusion of Transformative and Gender Equality
Studies as a general studies course in tertiary institutions,
staff promotion and salary increment.

Maybe the NUC recruitment na to replace him??

Anyway is it real? No word from the NUC on it, nothing on their website, nothing said about it from the former boss.
