Keep yorubas away from the economy. Those guys are bleeding socialists with barely any solid practical base. Even their states need a lot of FG patronage to survive. Even with all the FG patronage and an untouched medieval infrastructure since the 60s, it still looks like a cave.
I see a lot of their professors here in the field of engineering. A lot of paper knowledge and certification with very shallow practicality. Even an Nnewi boy working in auto work shop has done far more practical engineering.
Buhari is ultimately to blame for this though. Destroyed the economy by appointing very wrong hands.

I blame Cassandra.

This is the aftermath of leaving the economy on autopilot for 6 months. We told the Zombies but they called us wailers.

Ask Adam Smith, and he will tell you that economy is one very volatile entity. Leave it on autopilot and it will recede.

Hell is a learner where Nigeria is. All thanks to cassandra and the change crew.

Thank God I am not part of this country's problem. I didn't vote for change.

Ethnic bigot posts. GEJ was actually responsible for this mess, he didnt save money in time of plenty, now when time of scarcity came due to oil price fall, and people are here blaming buhari. GEJ inherited strong economy built by OBJ, the economy started nose-diving during Yar Adua era when he bowed to pressure to share savings made by OBJ, GEJ continued the sharing spree, not only that lootery became national culture under him, and the rest was distributed during 2015 election. Buhari came and inherited liabilities of a sinking ship. Even Ngozi, the minister of finance told GEJ of the need to save, but she was turned down, no one listened. I am not surprised that most people posting here are as half-baked as GEJ, graduates who have no substance. I recommend for the GEJ e-warrior here to check out how many factories folded up under GEJ watch, maybe you will realize there is no magic wand anyone to save the current situation. Dollar started fallen under GEJ,they started borrowing to pay salary, so what is new here, other than ethnic sentiment which is the main reason this country sliding to hopelessness. Thieves are no more thieves, the right has become wrong, all because of ethnic sentiments.

7 years of plenty under GEJ the 'clueless one' is over.

It is well documented that under GEJ Nigeia was number one in Africa, no amount of propaganda can erase this fact from history.

The suffocating stench of evil, wickedness and zombiesm!

With all the resources available during his tenure, GEJ handed-over a weak and failing economy. So, before you celebrate, realize that GEJ ran the economy to the ground during the time of plenty.

You are very correct my brother you see the problem is very simple and i will never blame buhari for the problem of Nigeria. Only the tribalist and ethnocentric people from the SS/SE that just hate Buhari even if Nigeria is turning to eldorado they will still find something to blame him for. They are driven by hate and dont look at issues objectively.

People like me if given the option to choose between Jonathan and Buhari i will choose Buhari over and over again. Not because i like Buhari or i hate Jonathan but because Jonathan lacks good leadership.

The issue of Nigeria is very simple, you collect 300k basic salary every month, you throw parties every month, your employer now decided to slash your salary to 50k how do you keep throwing parties like before it will definitely affect you.

In Nigeria, for the past 3 decades our mainstay of the Economy is Oil, now the Oil price has crashed, the militants are destroying pipelines inturn production output has falling to below 50% and you still expect things to be going on fine and you blame Buhari.

I think something is wrong with people who say they regret voting for Buhari.

If you say Buhari was slow in Economic policies that might have affected us a bit but it is insignicant to what the effect of Oil price and Vandalization has caused.

This is not Buhari's fault, it is the fault of previous leaders who abandoned our other sources of revenue before the advent of Oil and the lack of will to save and use the Oil earnings to better the country. Diversification is not a 1 year thing it takes about a decade to start reaping the rewards of diversification.

I can categorically tell you if PDP was still in Power now Nigerians would have scattered all over the African countries for survival.

You are the dullard here and you need to ask your parents for forgiveness because you obviously wasted the money they spent on your education. You couldn't comprehend the article, and you can't forsee what will happen to the economy if your major source of income(and major contribution to GDP) falls from about $80/b to around $39/b in the global market. It would have been the same if it were to be GEJ there, it's not rocket science, it's simple logic. It's not every time you analyze issues with 50 shades of sentiment.

Gdp is a total goods and services country make per annum.
Under gej dat is between 2013 and 2015 Nigeria economy is largest in africa 21st in the World
Now let me ask this question?
Whats impact does goodluck Jonathan and his $594billions gdp does it make to d people of nigeria.
Does it bring a stable 24hrs electricity to Nigeria?
Does it remove poverty from Nigeria?
Does it a give a good road network?
Does it make all Nigeria banks the richest banks in africa?
Does it make Nigeria education sector have good look?
Does it bring a strong security in Nigeria?
So how can a country dat is making more than half a trillion dollars per annum cannot afford to make all this listed item.
So stop praising that she-goat called goodluck ebele Jonathan a Man who for 6yrs. Everything gej sign to build in Nigeria they all fraud.
Nimasa is a fraud
Calabar to kaduna rail project is a fraud
Arms deal is a fraud
East west road
Fuel subsidy is a fraud
Installing cctv camara in lagos and abuja is a fraud etc.
Pls stay with buhari let give him more time.
Am warri boy but i #istandwithbuhari.

Even at this warped logic probably to exonerate Cassandra aka Buhari...you still felled. Why

1)Do you know how much dollars he burnt by his numerous trips abroad? Weren't those expenses denominated n dollars?...Compare to Jonathan who APC enjoy to use as punching bag...

2)Where are his kids? They all school abroad and board first class flights on travels... Isn't it our economy dying?...Compare to Jonathan; your doormat whose kids schooled in Nigeria...

3)He still approved dollar loans for APC governors who even are already finishing their term...What did Oshiomole do with $75million loan less tham 6months to go?

4)He still wasted funds on pilgrimages even at a discount which he never gave genuine businesses...

5)He appointed over five(5)Aides on media(propaganda) ...without any economic adviser...Just got one now after almost 2years in office...

6)Pegged foreign exchange when when he knew he won't withstand the pressure...He has NO economic policy after almost 2years as president... virtually poor masses pay more than the bourgeois now...

And many others...What happened to the austerity measures already marshalled out by Jonathan before leaving office which would have cushioned the effect of low oil price...and maybe would have forced the bourgeois to pay more than the masses

by the 4th Quarter if we don't begin to see positive movement of our economy, it doesn't matter what the government says, who they blame, what they blame, the reasons they give, the minds of Nigerians should be made up. if Jonathan's PDP left us at a bad place, the Buhari's APC didn't even stabilize us there talkless of improve us, then we need to try another devil different from them all. that thumb should mean something to us all.

The fact is that those supporting this Government saying black is to them white are the ones suffering more than anybody in this country, just watch it, they are the ones exchanging their children for food yet Buhari is doing well. You can also notice that their number has dropped drastically on nairaland. The truth here is that they were after GEJ then just because of sentiment and nothing more. They should better pray for forgiveness
Whose forgiveness, Obasanja and Yar Adua left a vibrant economy both GEJ and PMB crumbled it, they are both clueless. While GEJ's case is irredeemable PMB still has a chance to turn around his stupidity.

I am amazed how we just seem as Nigerians unable to get past pdp/apc, Jonathan/buhari. Most people knew that buhari was not the answer, still how does anyone sit back and watch the endless looting and reckless spending of the Jonathan admin. The period when global oil prices soared had nothing to do with the pdp government or Nigeria, it was in my words a 'jackpot'. It's no rocket science that it was not going to continue indefinitely. The question is what happened to all the revenue that came in at that period? Was electricity fixed? Were roads built? Do we now have a rail system even if it's to transport goods across the country reducing the impact of trucks on roads and their menace? What of hospitals? Is the infrastructure in our universities now better? What happened to all the wind fall of money.

Buhari is clueless and has a military style approach. All his ministers are too timid to stand for the truth. His spokesman adeshina something standing to be corrected on his name is not any better than fani kayode as he no absolutely no tact.

Question is: is it that difficult or impossible for us as a nation to look beyond these bunch of tired recycled politicians? Will young fresh minds who fully understand where the world is and where it's going ever be given a chance in Nigeria? Why is it that the present crop of politicians see governance as their family inheritance?
Do Nigerian politicians understand what it means to be a civil servant? Where is the willingness to truly serve the people. Is power and money that toxic?
They can continue to destroy Nigeria and send their children overseas, someday, they would realize that no matter what, their children would never lay claim to those countries. Generations always looks far away but it never really is.
