Hot Debate On The State of Affairs of Nigeria: BUHARINIZATION OF CORRUPTION by Krosslife(m): 11:50am On Aug 31, 2016
This water of wrath boils inside me, but I feel reluctant to put pen to paper to produce the words of my mind on the pages of newspapers, magazines and the media. Nevertheless, I will indiscriminately articulate and ejaculate the yearnings of my heart, as it beat and zoom at dangerous speeds, on the road of the state of affairs of the nation, Nigeria which appears to be in darkness; into the ears of the globe not for temerity but for absorption, illumination and resolution.
From the “Idol of Hopes of Nigerians” to the transformed and reformed “general for change” to “SAI Buhari” “Mr. Discipline” “popular WAI” albeit “Snail Bus Driver” all these encomiums now appear to be contrary to the expectations of hope and nearly at the edge of the jugular, for those who took pride to trekked long miles for “unbelievable victory”. If the overwhelming majority of the electorates who enthusiastically trooped to the polls to cast their “vote of change” last year in expectation for a New Nigeria suddenly become the dogs that bark its owner, call for an emergence and the grim reality that the “system is sick” is now the songs that the birds chorus in their flight.
Since the inception of office of the crowned Eagle who sits on the “hot seat” in Aso Rock, has merely embarked on a vociferous gospel crusade on “Buharinization of Corruption” running against the wind of struggle and engineering of fiscal depravity. Let us now shed more light on the “plagues”.
Militancy, Insurgency, Terrorism and Violence
I think now is the time for the “Auto-pilot” leader to take the bull by the horns. Let the B brothers be crowned a king to enjoy the “pleasures” of their lands. Yet, it must be understood that the Bisons, the Buffaloes and the Bulls have large horns on their heads capable of reaping apart the “pregnancy of the triplets” if not pacified and tethered with blood-rope and power. Majority of the leaders have tasted the “meat of their blood”. Why do you give bones to the owners of the meat? And deprived them of the milk and honey of their body?
I watched with keen interest in the last general elections where most Nigerians voted along ethnic and religious lines. I always advocate that for Nigeria to build a civic, liberal progressive societies that are devoid of religious and ethnic bigotries, we must be able to reconcile our religious and ethnic differences (instead of playing animosity, hypocrisy and mediocrity with ourselves), If not disintegrate, not yet learn to live in accord. Why does lethal weapon of ethnic injustice and racial prejudice jaundice the hopes of compatriots? Or what do you say my fellow countrymen? Or how can you live in a heterogeneous society, with two mother hands of faith shouting praises to the same God or is there “Gods” or what do you mean? Whether ‘Halleluyah or Allahu Akbar’? Is it not to the same sky? Or are there many Gods in heaven to whom we give praises? Look, the messages of the scriptures themselves cannot marry.
One holy text will say (Say, “O you disbelievers, I do not worship what you worship. Nor are you worshippers of what I worship. Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. For you is your religion, and for me is my religion”) and the other counters with “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?
Obviously, these untamable religious postulations are untenable from an intellectual, philosophical, psychological and practical standpoint, and must be ratified by political leaders seeking to build religious free or faithless societies with the creed of a liberal democracy. Do these people understand the value of egalitarianism in a federalism? Enough is enough! Let us desist from incessant and indecent killings of innocent souls, with barbaric display of confidence in the wanting wastage and destruction of precious lives and properties, by those we know as “vampires with holy sword”, who craves for and shed the blood of “social souls” in our republic.
Corruption in the National Assembly
The hell fire of justice has prevailed in the aftermath of the anti-corruption war, tagged “Buharinization of Corruption”. Since the reincarnation of WAI regime numerous “gates of corruption” have opened. Many bribery scandal and allegations level against the allies of former leaders, with gigantic and unimaginable quantum of looting and misappropriation. Even though, Mr. Integrity seems to be dead in the politics of Nigeria, but the sword of justice is not blunt to prosecute and crucify offenders at the Golgotha of the constitution.
When a dead legend raises one leg out of the grave, the mourners scatter. I am cynical and paranoid about the actions of those who parade themselves as the agents of change in this dispensation. But I bear concord with the message of “Buharinization” – Change the Changer. Change the leaders and the new leaders will change the system, this will in turn change the people. The arrogant display of immunity by the leaders of the National Assembly legalizes their rights to corruption which depicts that they are against the Change Agenda of the crowned Eagle. Grassroots resistance should be unleashed as an indispensable tool to override this “legal waywardness” through the march of common minds of vision for absolute compliance. Our legislative process and legislators are in need of complete overhaul.
Dwindling Naira, Inflation and the Economy
Many Nigerians have bemoaned the way in which the past administration drained the economy of this nation and looted the “big reservoir” of wealth and resources and now leaves the incumbent to wallow in abject economy besieged by austerity after the total removal of fuel subsidy. Please, plead the “sword of justice” upon yourself and see if your body can hold niter.
Anytime am onboard a commuter bus, it is always an avenue to listen to the assessments and provocations of the masses on the state of affairs and their agitations and grievances against the government. One ridiculous and hilarious scenario was the market woman who complained that this government has indirectly “devalued” the naira that it now has unprecedented exchange rate with major hard currencies. She continues “government is not showing any sympathy towards the common man in this harsh economy inflicted by inflation and recession. Now, N1000 cannot buy you enough foodstuffs to get you three square meal not to talk of balance diet. You get to market, before you buy 1, 2 and 3, N1000 has finished”. Another passenger cut in sharply. “Madam, but you voted for change”? “Yes, I voted for change. Not harsh economy or inflation”. As the woman was alighting from the bus, she asked “conductor, where is my change”? The conductor angrily replied in pidgin “Se nami promised you change? Better go Abuja to get your change”. Everybody laughed.
Far too many Nigerians believe that this government is doing nothing to help out of this situation because it escalates everytime. Are all these ills the consequences of the Buharinization of Corruption or palliative measures with premeditated misconceptions? Tell these leaders to grow above partisan and parochial politics and understand the fundamental tenets of democracy. In this civilized world, administration and governance are not done by “tallness of tongue, but depth and breadth of brain”. My pen is out of breath.

Warning: Don’t allow your sentiments to overtake this vehicle of revolution.
