It is about time that somebody of Niger Delta ancestry walks the corridors of power in Abuja. Goodluck Jonathan may well wind up as Nigeria's Vice President, if political currents keep flowing as the are now, just " a heartbeat away" from being President and Commander of the Armed Forces of the country whose life-blood for the past half century as been the crude oil drawn from the soil of Jonathan's forefathers.

Even if Jonathan Goodluck gets lost in the end-zone shuffle as presidential elections draw near, his nomination as Yar adua's running mate is in itself a beacon of hope for the people of the Niger Delta, and a welcome sign that one of their own is headed for the very top. On a sartorial note, if Goodluck does become Nigeria's next Vice President, he has got to lose that Clint Eastwood cowboy hat, or at least put it away when indoors. And he shouldn't smile all the time. Lot of folks find it hard to trust a man who is always smiling, not that it makes any difference in the Nigerian context.

Jakumo, that's the way we do our thing down here in the Delta. That hat separate us from other ethnic groupings in the country. And no one can change that. No, not at this point in time in our history. And I would be surprised if Jonathan heed your advice.

i dont expect odili to be surprised cos' his case with EFCC is still ongoing. Yar'adua, jonathan and duke still has reasonable record with EFCC, So OBJ haven't done too badly. altho i would have prefered duke for Jonathan. all the same, may God help us touch their hearts. Amen.
