I know someone. A old high school classmate, Vince. He was possibly the best looking guy in our school. He was tall, light skinned, has dreadlocks, played basketball, and played quarterback for our football team. Oh yes, he has hazel eyes too. He had everything, and between the ladies, and his academics, both seemed to be routine for him. Vince was everything I wanted to be in high school, and was living up the dream. He looks like actor Michael Ealy. Everything Vince I wanted, he got it. If he wanted to play on the basketball team and start, he did. If he wanted to start a new “crew” with a clique of new friends, all the guys would follow him. If he wanted a new girlfriend, all he had to do was look into their eyes, say some awkward pickup line and it was all game. After we graduated high school, and all went off to college. He spent a year in Georgia, and was then arrested for a huge rap sheet. Triggers** Everything from breaking into apartments, to raping women, sodomizing, and theft, was all the way shocking to me. He did this over a period of several weeks up to a year. Vince was on house arrest for a year in 2009 and was sentenced in 2010. He’s now living in prison, and will be serving a long sentence. It’s looking like he might die in prison. What is more disturbing is he currently has an active Facebook profile, and he says things like “Its good to feel loved, even if its by the devil.” His transformation from having everything laid out right in front out him, to now just surviving everyday is what he is doing now. He has tattoos from his waist, all the way up to his neck. He has the “tear tattoos” on the side of his left eye, and has a long pinky fingernail. He’s transformed, and its safe to say from committing multiple robberies, rape, theft, he’s lived up his own expectation of being a badass. Prison definitely changes people, and I feel for the victims… For my own safety, I have used fake names in this story.
