Even if you’re not religious, you’ve got to give religions credit for at least one thing: they really know how to scare the living hell out of people. Religious demons often sound more terrifying than anything a human could dream up, which isn't a bad way to keep potential sinners in line.
This list of demons from religion includes figures from many different faiths. Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism—if it’s got an evil demon, it’s probably here. Some of these are familiar, some of them are obscure, but they’re all really scary.

Also please Vote up the demons you'd never want to cross paths with by clicking "LIKE" for scary and "SHARE" for not scary

1. LEGION:

Have you ever heard the phrase “I am legion,” signifying solidarity with a particular group? You probably wouldn’t have guessed that the phrase comes from the story of a possessed man in the Bible. Jesus comes across an unnamed man who is plagued by a demon. He performs an exorcism, and in order to cast the demon out, he asks it for its name. It responds, “My name is Legion, for we are many.” Which is simultaneously incredibly badass and incredibly terrifying.

2. DYBBUK:

A Dybbuk is a demon from Judaism, which clings to the soul of a living person and inhabits their body. Dybbuks are said to be the souls of those who cannot pass on to the afterlife because of the totality of their evil. They enter a person when they have sinned and not atoned, leaving a door open for demonic influence. So if you don’t want a demon possessing you and wrecking your life, just don’t sin. Should be easy, right?

3. ASAG:

What happens when you have sex with a mountain? If you answered, “Your union creates a race of rock children, duh,” you’re totally right, but you probably shouldn’t be cheeky, because that’s a really weird thing to know. Asag is a grotesque, hideous demon from Sumeria who leads his rock-children-things in battle. He’s so monstrous to look at, according to legend, he causes fish to boil alive.

4. MEPHISTOPHELES:

As Lucifer’s right-hand man, Mephistopheles does the Devil’s bidding. He collects souls that have been damned and bargains with those who wish to sell their souls. Mephistopheles comes from the classic German legend of Faust, who sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for infinite knowledge and magical powers.

5. SUCCUBUS:

A succubus is just like an incubus, except a succubus is female. Succubi are cleverer than incubi, though, and can make themselves appear in human form and tempt men into having sex, rather than just straight-up attacking them. But they can also lead men to eternal damnation, so if you’re considering sleeping with a succubus, maybe don’t?

6. ABBADDON:

Abbaddon is a Christian demon whose name means “Destroyer.” Abbaddon rules over a bottomless pit and commands an army of locusts to torment anyone who does not have the symbol of God on their forehead. Better get on that quick if you don’t want to be attacked by locusts.

7. RANGDA:

Rangda is part of Balinese mythology and closely tied to Hinduism. She is a widow who thirsts for revenge and eats children. She has supernatural powers and commands an army of witches against Barong, who is the complete opposite of Rangda. She is depicted as a grotesque old woman.

Others will be posted when I am sure this thread is been followed as I don't intend wasting MB. Cheers.

8. JIKININKI:

Another day, another cannibalistic demon. These guys come from Japanese Buddhism and are the spirits of wicked people who are cursed to feast on human flesh. Don’t worry, though: they only eat people who are already dead, so just make sure that someone stands watch over your body until you’re good and buried (or incinerated).

9. THE THREE GORGON:

In Greek mythology, there were three Gorgon sisters: Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa. Stheno and Euryale were immortal, and all three were all grotesque, with hair made of snakes. Anyone who looked directly into their eyes would be turned to stone.

10. ANDRAS:

Picture this: Andras is a demon with a human body, wings, and an owl’s head. And he rides a wolf. And carries a saber. He sows discord among people, harnesses anger, and sometimes just straight-up kills people.

none actually. the people who started this stories have tossed them in the bin while we are still here discussing it, what i meant was the average African is prone to believing supernatural explanations rather than rational ones.

14. AZI DAHAKA:

Azi Dahaka comes from the religion of Zoroastrianism. Mostly he just steals cattle and pesters humans, but the really terrifying thing about him is how he looks: his body is a cross between a lizard and a snake, and he’s got three giant heads.
