Oshiomhole Administration Is A Year Old by ohisng(m): 11:32am On Nov 04, 2009
About a year ago, democracy was restored in Edo State when the rightful winner of the gubernatorial election: Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was sworn in and the "illegal" professor of law was sent packing from Dennis Osadebay Avenue along with his cohorts and his master the one who calls himself "Mr. Fix it"
When the Adams Oshiomhole administration began,
1. There was massive unemployment
2. Insecurity of lives and properties in the state
3. Dwindling monthly allocation from Federal Government.
4. Exam malpractice was the norm in Secondary Schools,
5. Roads were in a bad state.
6. Ring road was an eye sore and am embarrassment to the state because of its dirty nature.
7. Internally Generated Revenue (IGR ) was at an all time low

However, less than a year later,
1. Over 4000 youths have been employed by the state
2. The security agents have been empowered and have reduced the level of insecurity
3. All secondary schools who engage in examination malpractice have been shut down by the ministry of education.
4. Roads in Edo State are currently being renovated.
5. No one would go to ring road today and not feel proud of the massive beautification in the state.
6. the IGR has been increased by more than 100%

All these and lots more in the midst of partisan politics of the legislative arm of government and other syncophants who want to bring down the government because the comrade governor has refused to allow them access to loot the state treasury.
In summary, Edo State may not be where it should be, BUT it is definitely NOT where it used to be.
Lets support the government and constructively criticize when necessary.

Sorry but your report card is TOO VAGUE. Point six seems to be the only solid point but would be more informative if we are actually told how the IGR was increased, cause if it is through more oil revenue allocation then that is not necessarily impressive. How have the security agent been empowered? All secondary schools that engage in malpractise have been shut down? What do you mean by that, you mean the students being part of it or what? I just don't get that.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind objective analysis of the situation on ground which shows improvement. If there is an achievement worth acknowledging then by all means acknowledge it, it is good to hear good news. However, this report card does not paint a picture elaborate enough from which conclusions can be deduced. When Peter Odilli was robbing Rivers State blind he also had such vague report cards that were void of any actual achievements. Just saying, if there are achievements worth acknowledging then you are selling it badly.

Ohisng is a paid clown from the AC. All he does is ass lick Oshimh Ole. The jury is still out on this guy. His achievements for the past year is largely questionable.
Ohisng conviniently failed to mention the massive waste of public funds Oshiomh Ole has engaged in.
1. 2 billion naira as security budget for the first few months in office.
2. 450 million naira to support his partys campaign in the Akoko Edo LGA election.
3. 150 million naira for a swimming pool in the government house
4. 2 jeeps and an SUV for S.O. Ogbemudia , a PDP c[t]hief who is rumoured to be decamping to the AC soon.
5. Insecurity of lives and property the worst in the history of the state; Anini era was no way close to this
6. Employment of 4000 youth!! Guy you are having a laugh. Which youths? which jobs? These are thugs that the AC used to facilitate their entry into the government house. How many university graduates have been employed? Most of these thugs have been given uniforms to functions as glorified "agberoos".
7. Beautification of ring road ke. This is 0.0000000001% of the road network in the state. Over 90% of the roads is unmotorable. Anyone who resides in or recently visited Benin can attest to this. Tell me how much the beatification of these small portions of road has cost so far? 900 million for you information. And thats coming from his commissioner.
This guy is a master of deception and a mistake. He was sponsored by Lucky Igbenedion who ruined the state for 8 years and continues to do so under Oshiomh Ole. The same PDP thieves who were complicit in the destruction of the state under Lucky [Bob Izua, Godwin Edosa, Pastor Ize Iyamu, Igbafe, to name a few] have now moved to AC, and were gladly received in by the hypocrite Oshiomh Ole. These are the same people he has spent countless hours on TV and radio condemning. They should all be behind bars and not in government. They say show me your friend and i will tell you who you are.

You don't appear to be objective either and there are way too many holes in your own account. You throw around figures without explaining in each case whether it was indeed money from the treasury that was used. I would say you are also guilty of propaganda hence you don't paint an objective picture of what is really on ground either.

The guy stated in an Interview its been difficult to pass certain agendas because they werent being approved by the state Govt who were majority pdp.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s Administration Is Great -Mrs. Etemire
By Henry Balogun

The Edo state council for Arts And Culture won bronze medal in the moon lighting game category at the recently concluded NAFEST held in Minna Niger state. Interestingly this is the first time in decades that the state had won any laurel at any of the festival for Arts and culture.
The Nigerian Observer sought the views of the Acting Director of the Council Mrs. Maria Etemire on recent developments in the council.

According to her “when we were preparing for NAFEST, unlike other years, we were not too sure if we will be able to attend because there were years we had packaged events for the NAFEST, and our dreams were not actualized due to lack of funds, but this time around, the Comrade Governor was kind to us to have approved something for us to travel with and with that, we were able to package some events. Infact I must inform you, that if you were there, you will know that Edo State did not just come to participate, we were fully represented and fully loaded to take what belong to us.

As far as we are concerned, culture is for the people of Edo state and no wonder, after the opening ceremony on the 1st of October 2009, the Niger state government owned Newspaper, NEWSLINE of October 14 had no alternative but to feature Edo state contingent as they appeared in the opening ceremony on their front page. And to us, that is a recognition of the fact that we were not casual in that outing. And we were a force to be reckoned with. And we went with a group of children to present us in the moonlight game. We have always been attending in time past, but never had we come back with laurel. This year however, we came back with a bronze, and we are grateful to God because it was my first outing to NAFEST as a Director. And I think they knew that Edo State came and we performed. Infact one of our Edo sons described us like this “Edo State came, you saw and you conquered.” To God be the glory. This is a good beginning as far as we are concerned to achieving greater things for Edo State. In the past ten years, Edo State has never won anything, not even a certificate in NAFEST. So this is a stepping stone to greater heights, they are waiting for us because they knew what they saw in NAFEST, they have never seen before I am sure they are waiting, because we are going to have an opportunity to showcase Edo state culture at the forth coming Abuja festival. Preparation has started and we are hoping and convinced that the state government would energise us so that we can take the world by surprise by taking our pride to place of culture that belongs to the people of Edo State, so when other states assume that they are the custodian of culture, if we arise and take our position, none of them will be able to stand, and I believe that one day, we are going to establish some art industries, encourage our youths to try their hands on art so that the state can be a better place of art for everyone of us”

Speaking further, Mrs. Etemire who holds a Bachelor degree in public Administration and MBA post graduate degree obtained from the University of Benin disclosed that the coming of the Comrade Governor has been an eye opener to the people of Edo state especially among the sincere and hard working civil servants who are committed to attain excellence in their service career. She elaborates “In my first meeting with the workers of the Arts council, I told them that this administration is a great one as far as I am concerned, because when you are working with a group of people, there may be many ideas within you that you will not be able to bring out and such ideas no matter how beautiful may die with some people. So I told my workers that this administration led by the Comrade Governor has afforded us the opportunity to bring out all the potentials in each and every one of us, and we have the opportunity to exhibit our potentials. And nothing can be greater than the fact that we have the opportunity to perform and provided with the enabling environment in which to perform.

When the Governor was for instance talking on the need to improve on IGR, many people thought otherwise, but I must tell you that now our eyes are opened because we now know that it is a necessity, because it has made us to look inwards to begin to make our activities to be up to standard. And without the encouragement of the Comrade Governor, most of the things we have been able to achieve here would have been impossible. For instance, in the past regimes I have heard where people were told “you are over ambitious that is why you are doing this and that,” but in this administration, ambition is rewarded, and it is an encouragement to us. At this juncture, I would want to speak more on our recent participation at NAFEST 2009. In Minna, it was obvious that our Comrade Governor was highly regarded. You know, as a former union leader, he is known world – wide.

A lot of positive comments came from those who visited our pavillon at NAFEST. And I am happy to inform you that we took their artistic impression of what they said, and one of the visitors that came Mr. P.A. Clark from Delta State wrote thus “with what I have seen, I am convinced for the first time Edo State have shown that they have a governor. Edo was has been poorly represented in the past NAFEST, kudos to you Comrade Oshiomhole. Keep it up”.

Infact this is very encouraging to us. There was somebody who came from Cameroon, an elderly man and he made this statement “I am proud of Adams Oshiomhole,” he also gave me a letter to deliver to the Comrade Governor because of what he had seen of the packing at the Edo State pavillon. I am sure that if we were shabbily packaged, such comments would not arise. So I am grateful for this opportunity to be a Director in one of the parastatals in Edo state that is under a very vibrant, trustworthy and an action Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Mrs. Etemire who assumed Leadership of the state council of Arts and Culture in August 2009, having worked at same for more than two decades has been variously described as a woman of immense intellectuality, visionary and excellent manager of both human and material resources also gave kudos to the commissioner of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Vincent Akhere and the permanent secretary pastor Mrs. Agatha Igologba for their assistance and cordial relationship with the council.

She stated thus “I have been in this Arts council for so many years that I have not seen this kind of co-operation from our supervising ministry. This is a relationship that is beyond. And talking of my commissioner Hon. Vincent Akhere, he has been a father to me, while my PS, Pastor Mrs. Igologba is my mother, infact there is no need to talk of any supervisory ministry, I actually have my father and my mother at that end and they have been wonderful. They have not given me any cause to regret, nor any opportunity to say why am I working with these kind of people. They have carried me along in what ever they are doing, and encouraged me on every side.”

On her vision for the future of the Arts council, Mrs. Etemire enthused thus “I want to see a council that is liberated, that is doing the right thing. Our custodian of culture, our Royal father, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa, the Oba of Benin will be so glad to see that we take our pride of place.

Some years back, when we visited our Royal father, my heart bled when he made a statement, he said “this state went to carnival, when I watched it on television I was ashamed.” And he made another specific statement, he said “please if you are not going in the future, why not just send my artiste Alele.” And I am happy to say that Alele is one of our staff. So we have capable hands, those who are talented and we hope to achieve greater successes.

Oil revenue counts under statutory allocation and not IGR which is money generated within the state by ministries and parastatals of government.

1) On the other hand, one side of looking at it is that he is not doing anything based on the aforementioned points while
2) On another hand, it could be as a result of having to clear the mess and rot of yesteryears which a Fashola did not have in such massive proportions.

@snowdrops, your level of ignorance is mind boggling!!
From an IGR of less than 300million to one of a little more than a billion monthly in less than one year, isnt that an achievement and this increase id due solely to enforcement of the tax law.
For the schools, all involved in exam malpractice have been shut down by the ministry and blacklisted by WAEC. The students have been sent to other schools to write their exams!
Security agencies have been provided with working vehicles, communication gadgets, e.t.c

Re: Oshiomhole Administration Is A Year Old by ohisng(m): 3:26pm On Nov 05, 2009
@yeswecan, this is all people should hear- CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS!! The state isnt exactly where it should truly be but at the same time, it is in a much better condition than it was in the last 2 previous administrations.
Is it a lie that in terms of ICT, the state is light years ahead of other states? Check out its website (www.edostate.gov.ng), it is also doing biometric exercise and verification of all state civil servants, e-payment plans and GIS are also in the drawing board.
@snowdrops
do u have facts to prove oshiomhole spent 450 million for election in akoko edo? same governor who has a reputation for being very thrifty with money.
150million for swimming pool? guy!! u have lost ur marbles!!! Na wetin dey the swimming pool? gold and don perignon? if u must say something, at least say something that makes some sense.
jeeps he bought for ALL former governors and even gave John Oyegun. So why make so much fuss over ogbemudia's own? If the man decides to leave PDP to AC, that is his choice and has nothing to do with jeep given to him!! By the way, are u aware that giving these ex governors jeeps was legal?
If u think edo state is insecured, what would u say of Rivers or bayelsa? or anambra where Soludo's father was kidnapped or the state where the SSG was kidnapped? why single out edo state?
Again i proudly say he has employed over 4000 youths and if u think they are thugs, then u must be a simpleton! Are you aware the government is currently recruiting doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, teachers, e.t.c? In your warped imagination, so all these were the thugs used? Go to the Project SAVE office and see master's degree holders working. See the joy on people who were hitherto unemployed.
if u need a job, simply say so!!
beautification of ring road is the start in the process to beautify edo state. would u leave ring road in such messy condition and go and beautify roads in ayogwiri, Otuo, Ekpoma or Uromi?
True, the roads are bad BUT I guess Oshiomhole is responsible for the rains that have refused to end (lol) which has made the road projects to be at a standstill?
Was your tongue tied during 8years of Igbinedion rule or 18 months of the confused clueless professor of law? why u no fit talk and how many roads dem fix. so what they couldnt fix in 9 years, u want Oshiomhole to fix in 9months?
His commissioner said 900million, but are u aware that the money isnt for the work that has been done so far but includes the work in progress? and also covers the cost of installing generators to power electricity in the street lights as well as maintaining them for a year?
My guy, what u dont know, dont talk about! Half knowledge can be embarrassing.
Bob Izua, Goddy Edosa and others have a freedom to associate with who they like no matter what u may think.
As if u better pass them sef

the more you make your juvenile posts the more you consolidate yourself as a deluded nincompoop. Your case is beyond redemption. Raising IGR by acting as a dictator. Making tax rises singlehandedly without approval of the state assembly. Tax rises of 1000% way above the level of inflation. What happened to the oil derivation from the fg? Reckless destruction of properties across the state rendering people homeless and penniless due to loss of homes and businesses. The debris from these litter the state capital constituting an eyesore and posing a public health risk with rises in mobidity and mortality from communicable diseaes such as malaria and thyphoid fever. I guess your illiterate boss never realized this.
How dare you list shutting down schools as an achievement!! This fool should be opening schools and not shutting them. Will that bring to an end exam malpractice? The whole system we all know is rotten right from the ministry of education, to the WAEC, education supervisors, principals and the culpable students. The only language the socialist dictator understandds is ban this ban that, destroy!!  "Oshio-destroy". Why dont you set up a committee to look into why cheating occurs in exams, then set things in motion to reduce or eliminate exam malpractice in the state over a few years.
I wont bother glorifying your other points by responding to them. You lack a cerebrum, and as they say never"argue with a madman because people might not know the difference". If you need the source of the eloquently put points i made, there is something that is called google. Go to www.google.com, type in your keywords and click enter.
And please dont kill me with laughter by praise singing Bob Izua and Goddy Edosa. You justify their inclusion into your gang in  AC. The same PDP thugs that brought the state to its knees, killed and maimed thousands. The same Bob Izua AKA Bomboy, who was strongly implicated in the murder of numerous Edo state citizens including the late MD of Big Joe motors and the brutal assassination on February 22 1992 of the then Oredo LGA Chairman George Idah. You are a disgrace and should hide your head in shame. The blood of these slain people will rise against you if you dont join me in condemning the above thugs. Why should they have the freedom to associate when they denied other people the most fundermental freedom which is to live.

I am not surprised at your stance on all issues concerning the current government in Edo state. You had stated on an earlier thread that you are the spokes person of the government. You are here celebrating murderers, armed robbers and political thugs. You are a pot calling the kettle black. You line every statement in your posts with insults and innuendos and you deceitfully accuse others of doing the same. What a hypocrite.

@snowdrops, if u will drop ur negative and pessimistic obsession with oshiomhole, you could have clearly read that i said while whoever joins any party is subject to personal opinions of nigerians, i asked a question: DID THEY COMMIT ANY LEGAL CRIME IN JOININGTHE AC? The talk of murderers e.t.c is subject to each person's interpretation.

Allowing Chief Osamede Adun and Goddy Edosa into your party from the PDP though an outrage to many is not surprising to a few who know that C[T]hief Lucky Igbinedion is the sole finicier of the AC in Edo state. Osamede Adun is a CONVICTED murderer, convicted in a court of law, you numpty. Thats not my own interpretation. If thats not enough to ban him from the AC or any political party for that matter then heaven help Edo state and i should not be holding this arguement with you.
