Why Nigerian Football Is Comatose. by Donjowebs(m): 9:30pm On Dec 15, 2016
When Amaju Pinnick was clandestinely and corruptly elected as NFF President in Warri using the backing of then Delta state Governor and inlaw, I cringed that night at the amount of state money spent to install him. A lot of persons saw him as the Messiah Nigerian football has been missing and waiting for, peeps spoke and gloated about how he would turn the the NFF to the next FA or CBF with his supposed contacts and connections to bring the much needed private sector funding the Glass House so need, fast forward from that night and he has been Nigeria football's worst nightmare aided and abetted by a certain Min. Of sports.
Today the Super Falcons are being owed monies due them for winning the AWCON (wouldn't want to dwell on other issues in Nigeria's football) which is an embarrassment of monumental proportions. Pinnick promised private sector funding where the NFF wouldn't depend on government funding which was his "manifesto" to be being elected if you call it that;
The "successes" recorded by Pinnick in Delta State were mainly as a result of heavy funding from the state government and its allies and not via any tangible revenue drives or marketing by him.
He becoming NFF President was more self-serving than the interest of Nigerian football, Pinnick sees the NFF as his vehicle to achieving his dream of being an executive member of CAF and FIFA as exhibited by his most recent visit to the Ghana Football Association chairman to negotiate how he can achieve the earlier stated aim rather than growing Nigerian football.
This singular act alone shows Nigerians Pinnick doesn't give a damn about our football but his ambitions alone, else he would have been bothered about the girls and the present embarassment he and his co-travellers in the Glass House are conducting right now.
Fellow Nigerians! Enough is enough, time to stand up against mediocrity in every sphere of our national life!
