Yes they spend 5 yrs(6 months IT inclusive) to get BTech, which makes them more technologically inclined and better than the conventional Bsc graduates. But why is it very hard for people to also believe that even HND graduates who also spend 5 yrs(12 months IT inclusive) are better than the conventional Bsc graduates??

What is the difference between the polytechnic and Uni Technology system of education? Are all of them not geared towards technology?? Why then do they discriminate against polytechnic HND holders, and even give preference to Bsc holders even in areas where technological graduates are needed? Why??

You don't discriminate against HND holders but other nigerians do. The problem is that they have not been able to tell us why they do that.

why do u all like blabing?Btech is in no way better than Bsc.Duration of course has nothing to do here.Some courses at final year (400L) in conventional Universities are been shifted to 500L in schools of Technology.this also applies to previous levels. do u disagree? compare the course outline of Microbiology at Unijos or Uni ilorin with that of FUTYola or FUTO.
As for HND,hmm, Have are asked urselves why universities and polytechnics were created separately.if u haven't,please do. do u know y polytechnics dont have profs? , yes, polytechnics are suppose to be practically oriented but is technology just practically driven without the theoritical knowlegde.if yes we should all become apprentice with the local radionic or automobile machanic in our vicinities. i'm telling u categorically that Universities are both theoritically and practically oriented. if u find otherwise blame ur government. i rest my case for now

Guy, BTech na 5 years course o, hope you know? You cannot compare uniTech with conventional universities. Btech courses are technologically driven (Theory & Practical). Please check out the syllabus for BTech programs in most science courses you find out that they do more courses than their counterparts in the conventional universities that come out with Bsc. Check BTech Statistics course curriculum for FUT yola and compare it with Bsc Statistics course curriculum for Uni ibadan you will see the differences. infact BTech is supposed to be a step higher than Bsc.

As for HND, HND has a similar pattern and structure with BTech, the differnce is that HND is obtained from polytechnics while BTech is from university, that is the difference from my little research.

UniTech and polytechnics provide both applied education and academics to students especially in engineering, environmental sciences, applied sciences, technology, management sciences and administration. Here, more time is devoted to applications than theory.

Conventional universities train students in academic and research work in engineering, natural sciences, applied sciences, Arts, social sciences, humanities, education, etc. More theory is done here than applications.
