A Reflection On The Beatitudes: Sermon On The Mount by microsofttutor(m): 1:47am On Feb 01, 2017
INTRODUCTION
This article contains a concise reflection the heavenly blessings God prepared for those who met some criteria he himself set. This means that before one can enjoy these blessings, the person must possess some outstanding spiritual qualities.

There are other forms of blessings. An article at www.knowledgecrave.com which talked about the Instruments of God’s Blessings and Wealth elaborated on the various types of blessings.
Matthew 5: 1-12 (Sermon on the Mount) contains these blessings and the criteria for obtaining them.
Read it below.

SERMON ON THE MOUNT: THE BEATITUDES (MATTHEW 5:1-12)
1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 "Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

REFLECTION ON THESE DIVINE BLESSINGS AND THEIR CRITERIA
I will now analyze each of these beatitudes and the conditions to meet before one can enjoy these blessings. As you study these blessings, examine your conscience and identify the category of blessings you are qualified to enjoy. Just try and be truthful to yourself.
THE POOR IN HEART:
These are those who are always willing and ready to work for God with their whole heart. They don’t allow their physical problems to affect their spiritual lives.
Most times, people mis-interprete being poor in spirit as the act of being physically poor (abject poverty). This is not true. Someone can be economically poor without being poor in spirit. On the other hand, one can be very rich and affluent economically and also be poor in spirit.
To such people, the kingdom of God will be their inheritance.
THE MEEK OR GENTLE:
These are those who are quiet and gentle in heart and are always ready to please God and their neighbours. They are always ready to sacrifice whatever they have in other to please God.
To such people, the earth will be their heritage.
THOSE WHO MOURN:
These set of people are always touched in heart when they see their neighbours in suffering. They are always in sorrow when their friends are in pains and are always praying for a turnaround for good.
To such people, God will console them.
THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS:
