2nd Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

What happens when the man of God who is supposed to keep the church members secret is the chief gossiper in the church?
What happens when the pastor who preaches against fornication is the one who impregnates the deaconess daughter?

A man who smokes and drinks heavily is chanced to be in the church,he is moved by the 'holy spirit', he gives his life to Christ, all his sins nailed to the cross, his past gone with the blood. What does this portend?

You giving your life to Christ and being born again doesn't remove your old habit, it doesn't take away your past addictions, a smoker who gives his life to Christ doesn't mean he won't smoke again, what this means is if he has been doing it publicly before, he would probably hide it now that he is a 'man of God' because before no one could question him but now he has to answer to a lot of people.

It takes real change for a a person to break an habit, an addiction, mere believing isn't going to whisk the habit away, it doesn't meant it's not there, one day it will surely rear its ugly head out.

Change is a journey, it's painful, it's stressful, its hard, it involves a lot of set backs, it involves a lot of trial and error, without putting in the work, the result would be abysmally poor.

So if you say you are a Man of God and all your old dirty habits are gone and you are a new creature, one day it will rear its ugly head again not because you don't have faith but because you have failed to put in the required work.
