I live in Ife and was present in Ife before, during and after the crisis. Different versions of the cause had been circulating round the media.

A version said it was a fight between a driver (Yoruba) and a Hausa man. Another version said it was between a Hausa man and a lady who hawked rice while the most popular version said it was between a Hausa man and wife of a NURTW chairman. Whatever caused it, the crisis had come and gone.

The latest issue about the crisis is the news carrying by Naij.com which claims that Mukaila 'the vulcaniser' who was said to had been beheaded is still alive. Well, whatever the case may be. I can authoritatively say Hausa killed a Yoruba man first before the brutal reprisal.

The person killed happened to be someone who lived in my area. This man was an Okada man who left home that very morning not knowing the Hausas were planning to go on rampage.
He was killed that morning. His death was one of those that were killed early that morning before Yoruba retaliated.
